I've always took "track fast" to mean it's a guy who is a burner when he doesn't have to think. But put them on a football field, and they slow themselves down because they aren't really football players (see: Paul Chaney). Some guys are just plain fast (Griffin), others are football fast (meaning they can play the game at their top speed).
