Former OSU point guard Doug Gottlieb is interested in the Kansas State opening. Gottlieb is a very popular analyst for ESPN who would be good for the Big 12. Any thoughts?
It would be a tough gig for a guy with no experience to come in after the success they have had in the last several years under Martin and Huggy. You'd better sustain some of that success beyond next year with a Martin squad or the natives will get restless real fast.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
A loud mouth know it all shock jock analyst has successful coach written all over him. I'm certain he already has a game plan for beating Fred since his scouting report is that Fred's teams just stand around and wave their arms on defense.

Gottlieb: "Alright guys, we are going up against Iowa State next. This game is the type of game where you don't really need that great of an offense because they mainly just stand around and wave their arms in the air."
After game: "I don't know why we lost to Hoibergs team, I thought I had a perfect game plan (and still do) I just think their shots were falling and ours weren't. The score of 120 to 40 doesn't do the game justice, it was much closer than the score indicates".

Gottlieb also stated: "We set up five dummies in practice with spring loaded attachments to simulate waving arms, and we scored at will against those dummies. I'm not sure why it didn't work as well in the game. I need to look at the film and get back to you on why our plan didn't work."
