Adrian Peterson Gives $1 Million to OU

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has pledged $1 million to the Oklahoma athletics department, his launching pad for a stellar NFL career.
The university announced the donation Thursday. It will go toward construction of a new student housing facility and establish a football scholarship endowment in Peterson's name.
The university says this is the largest gift to the athletics department from a former football player. Peterson says he's been thinking about doing this "for a long time" and that he always hoped to be in a position to give back once he left school. Peterson starred for the Sooners from 2004 through 2006 before the Vikings made him the seventh overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft.

He's been great for the Vikings. My only knock on him as someone just said is when he showboated for another TD during garbage time against ISU.

Thats the only reason the Vikings got him. People were scared he was "injury prone". I tell all my friends that ISU laid the beatdown on him and hurt him, causing him to fall. I leave out the flip into the endzon for no reason part.

Yup. Most of my ISU friends were Vikings fans, we all loved it how our college team was responsible for our pro team landing our best player.

Next time I get an Alumni mailing with the lists, I will look.

I remember Coach Jim Walden was a regular contributor.

Considering how much money these big time schools make off these kid's labor and how many pro athletes go broke after football you'd think he would hold on to that $1 million. He might need it later on and OU will just throw it onto the pile.
