If someone wants to post in the megathread, go ahead. It's more interesting to have stories highlighted with threads. Your favorite flavor of tea, favorite kind of underwear, favorite book, best sub sandwich all deserve their own threads, but a story like this doesn't? Give me a break. You should focus on your battle with BWW having something Hawkeye on there walls in Ames.

Re: FSU, Clemson, Louisville and Maryland to Big 12?
I do not care if it is 12 14 or 16 just not 10, I want a proper championship game between two divisions. The only problem is if go to 14 or16, It will be really hard for ISU to climb from the bottom, but I trust our coach to do some damage.

Yes, weather, money, and fan base just don't matter much in college football.
I'm a die hard Clone fan...but we have a very up hill battle. We should have been cheating years ago if we were going to be a national power given our geographic limitations.

Umm, in case you hadn't noticed, West Virginia is basically on the East Coast.
Plus, as has been said elsewhere in this thread and other places, geography don't mean **** no' mo.

Hardly anyone gives a **** about UMD sports out here, which diminishes the value of these markets. College football in general takes a major backseat to the Redskins and Ravens, and most college fans in the area root for either Virginia Tech (the real key to the DC market) or WVU. Penn State and UVA probably have as many or more fans than UMD in the area, and most of the Big Ten schools have a sizable presence here, too.
They're big markets, yes, but they're also crowded/saturated, so I am not sure how much ESPN and the other TV networks would be willing to pony up if the Big 12 got a small toehold in them. We already have a presence with WVU, but if securing DC is really what the Big 12 wanted to do, they'd go after VA Tech rather than UMD.

No way does the Big 12 go to 14. Weird number for divisions and scheduling. Mizzou won't play Florida for something like 5-7 years. Big 12 doesn't want/need that. Need to poach to home run schools, FSU and Clemson, and then have ESPN force the ACC into a grant of rights to keep that conference alive and therefore have more broadcast material for really cheap.
And jumping to 16 from 10 could be a little disastrous.

I see Louisville for reason's of geography but not sure why Maryland unless it is another step towards 16. If that is the case then who would the next 2 be? Rutger's and the elusive golden dragon (ND)?

Maryland is one of those schools that thinks they are big time, but they aren't. Nobody gives a **** about Maryland. They have a good basketball program, but their football program is so incredibly bad. They caught lightning in a bottle for a couple of years with Ralph Friedgen, but they have no history. They might as well be Kansas. Just like KU caught lightning for a couple of years, but their history sucks.

Nice having realignment talk center on the Big 12 adding teams instead of losing teams.

Re: FSU, Clemson, Louisville and Maryland to Big 12?
I am for going for 16 teams.....that means the Big 12 stays for good! The SEC will grab a couple ACC teams to get to 16, then it leaves the PAC12 and B1G scrambling for the left overs to get to 16. Its time for the Big12 to put pressure on the other conferences after what they went through the past few years!!!

Just seems to me if we add those top couple teams the conference gets pretty darn top-heavy. I have to say it, but every single one of those programs has ISU beat in football success.
