More FSU/Clemson smoke
Seems likely that if some "insiders" are truly leaking this, that they're using the B12 as leverage to see how much the ACC will give the football schools to stay before they pack up and leave...Hard to know what exactly to believe out there. Details Of Rumored Big 12 Expansion With Clemson & FSU Emerge | May
...And I don't care if this is merged in the expansion thread or not...

Re: More FSU/Clemson smoke
From the sound of ACC fans and media experts, this seems like a done deal to me.

Even if they did get up to 18 million, ACC teams are likely leaving at least 8-10 million/team/yr on the table...and potentially a lot more depending on how revenue is distributed in the new playoff system.
The B12 current deal is in the process of renegotiation for Tier 1. It's really hard to say how much the B12 will be making in the future, but if you add FSU and Clemson it will likely be at least $25 million/team/yr + Tier 3 rights.

Bring them on, we need more teams to beat the crap out of us.

FSU just announced that their athletic budget is declining as well. With a stadium in bad shape, declining interest, player facilities located underneath the stadium, etc. - I don't think a kickback from some of the smaller schools is going to be enough.

Re: More FSU/Clemson smoke
First time I've heard $30 mil/school. Bring it.

Re: More FSU/Clemson smoke
It will be interesting to see how the ACC reacts to this if true. Were Syracuse and Pitt added as a cushion against poaching? Then they'd just stay at 12. Do they really want to expand to 14 to match the SEC, maybe eventually going to 16? Then you'd have to think that Rutgers and UConn are on the shortlist.
I kind of think they'd be smart to just stick with 12. If they start adding more teams to get back to 14, I think they kind of force the Big 12 and Big Ten's hand to add teams in order to keep up with them and the SEC. If that happens, the ACC has to know that the most attractive targets left all reside in their conference.

You know what, I don't care if it is in ther merged thread either. I get tired of seeing that long thread all the time pop up with a new post, thinking something big may be in it, only to find some worthless post of somebody just trying to make the thread longer. To me, a new headline like this at least helps me decide whether I want to open it or not.
