Louisville still top school for Big 12 if/when expansion happens

Misleading title.

Louisville is definitely in the Big 12 mix, but their notice of leaving could just as easily be about sliding into an ACC gap.

I think they are out of the Big East for sure, its just a matter of where.

Or they will fill an ACC spot. Either way they are worth WAY more than Big East money.

Question is, would the ACC take them if they had a slot to fill? Over Rutgers and UConn?

Just because they are looking to leave doesn't mean anyone will take them.

If the ACC wants to stay at 14 they're a better pick than either UConn or Rutgers. UConn plays in a 40,000 seat off campus stadium and Rutgers has major budget issues.

Louisville has great facilities and is in the black. Are they Big 12 material? Thats arguable and there are good arguments on either side, but they're definitely a no-brainer for the ACC if needed.

What? No reference to CW's claim yesterday that Louisville still makes the most sense? Make better use of the heavyweight sources!

An 11 team conference is clunky. 9 game conference schedule in football means every school avoids one other each year (weird). What about basketball? You can't do a 20-game schedule. And what are you gaining? You don't get a championship game. Louisville is not the school that I would jump at, anyway. I'd be alright with them as #12 if our #11 was a bigger name like Florida State, Notre Dame, or even Clemson. But this is wrong.

If after all the rumors of FSU, Clemson, ND, etc. we end up with Louisville only........ well let's just say the term "underwhelmed" comes to mind.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Louisville being added but they are just a secondary choice. It's smart by them to keep swinging for the fences, if they keep acting like they belong in the big 12 at the very least they'll be in the mix for whatever the ACC turns in to. Keeping their name in the talks with the big boys is just good marketing.
