New Big XII Divisions
Personally, I'd like to keep the schools that have played each other the longest in the same divisions. That effectively moves the OK schools north. Logically, WVU would be north, and Clemson/FSU south. Big Eight Conference - Membership Timeline
KU, ISU, KSU, OU (77 years), OSU (41 years) Southwest Conference - Membership Timeline
OU (4 years), OSU (10 years), BU, UT, TCU, TTU

Seven two-team divisions is obviously the way to go. -

Isu,ku,ksu,ou,osu,wvu, + nd(vt/gt)
Selfishly:
Bu,ut,tech,tcu,ou,osu,isu
Ku,ksu,wvu,fsu,cu,2 of um/vt/gt/nd
Unless we go to 16, east west splits get messy for someone.

Re: New Big XII Divisions
Balanced in talent, with geography in mind. That's my serious answer. The former given priority over the latter.

Re: New Big XII Divisions
Unless we become an 18 team league with 9 schools on the East Coast and in the Eastern time zone, there's no way to have geographically cohesive divisions and some schools would get screwed (likely us). Spread the travel pain around and set up divisions to achieve parity instead.

There will be plenty of public politics and posturing, but its close to done.

ISU, KU, KSU, WVU, Clemson, FSU
Texas & Oklahoma Schools
No Cross Rivalries needed IMO. Every Team guaranteed 1 game in Texas Every Year.
Still don't believe ND will join our conference.

Re: New Big XII Divisions
I really hope we don't jump to 14-16 right away. That's a lot of mouths to feed. The safe approach would be to sit back and watch what happens with the SEC at 14 teams first. That being said, if the 'Noles are knocking on your door, you don't ignore them. I'd like to see North/South divisions restored; however it sounds as if FSU may be demanding a Texahoma division. That could work if we slide TCU North, which I doubt they'd have much of a problem with since they're also a new kid on the block and are used to traveling (see Conf. USA/Mt. West). I'd also be willing to bet we'd stick with a 9 game conference schedule as opposed to the old 8 game rotatational slate, meaning we'd be playing schools from the other division 4 out of every 6 years as opposed to 2 of every 4. Once you get to 7 or 8 team divisions, how often will you actually be seeing everyone in the conference? I just think 12 is a great number- once you go beyond that it just seems bloated and messy to me. Oh, well.
Okay- my cool story is over, bro. Here's what I'd like to see: North:
ISU
KU
KSU
TCU
VT
WVU South:
BU
FSU
OU
OSU
TX
TX TECH

Or awaiting completion at the cart factory. Whatever the cart-making process entails these days.

Re: New Big XII Divisions
Geographic divisions aren't that difficult to make assuming FSU and Clemson do join. FSU, the four Texas schools, and either OU or Clemson (depending on what OU and UT want) in the South, and everybody else (ISU, KU, KSU, OSU, WVU, OU/Clem) in the North.

Re: New Big XII Divisions
This Greg Swaim guy on twitter is claiming that Notre Dame is close to joining the Big 12 for olympic sports only. Then join in football after television contract is over. Any truth to this?
