    BYU had it chance to be in Big 12....

    According to Chip Brown of orangebloods, BYU missed it chance to be in the Big 12, and the conference has moved on. This from the free site on rivals:

    ND's "special" needs are basically taking away opportunities from any conference it partners with.

    Give me BYU's "special needs" any day in comparison. Both because some of it comes from a less self centered purpose and that it's less of a big deal. I never saw BYU suggesting they should steal a conference's bowl slot for a handful of non-conf football games a year. The hubris level is on a different planet.

    Obviously ND adds more value than BYU or almost any other team, but a lot of fans sell BYU short just because they haven't been in a power conference. If you ranked all expansion candidates meaning the entire ACC, Big East, ND, BYU, CUSA and MWC...BYU is clearly in the top six or seven in terms of total value in the new world of college sports. ND and FSU would be clear 1 and 2, BYU offers as much or more revenue potential than anyone else.

    Now that we've committed to the eastern time zone with WVU the travel is more of an issue. Long term if the ACC cements and 12-14 is the gold number and championship game seems necessary the Louisville/BYU thing is not the horrible option some make it out to be.

    100% correct. And now with the new playoff system, I think it hurts their NC chances. For the foreseeable future I think Notre Dame's independent status really makes BYU think they can be one as well.
    What happens to BYU when ND joins a conference in the next 5-10 years? BYU to the PAC makes no sense now that they have Utah, and who knows if Baylor and TCU could have more veto power now against a possible future chance again for BYU in the B12.
