Sprint mobile users?

Need a little help! My company is finally cutting us free from the corporate AT&T mobile so that we can get our own plan that better suits where we live. I was set on going back to US Cellular but admit that Sprint's unlimited everything has really caught my eye...any fellow Fanatics using Sprint that can give me some feedback? I travel Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota for work so the phone would be used in mostly rural areas...how is their coverage? customer service?

I curse the coverage everyday but love the unlimited data and couldnt imagine going anywhere else. I hate missing calls and texts but I paired my service with google voice and it sends missed calls to me through my email quickly. It is amazing how poor the service can be but I think it is on par with everyone in the Western Iowa/Eastern Nebraska area.

If the bolded is true, then Sprint is a very bad idea, especially if you're talking a smartphone. I live in Omaha and use my phone in the city limits almost exclusively, yet there are many places in the city where I get zero reception w/ Sprint.

Love the unlimited plan.
However, if you are spending a lot of time in rural areas, you probably don't want Sprint. Their coverage is really only good in cities and along interstates.

Isn't amazing how US Cellular seems to be the one carrier that works regardless where you are in the boondocks? My wife's family lives in some very remote places and yet her service is always good to go.

of course the flipside is that their phone selection is terrible compared to the national carriers

Agreed... their phone selection is BAD. And it used to be that US Cell wouldn't nickle and dime you like the big carriers would, but that's gone now as US Cell has resorted to using the same practices as the big companies (latest example is the device "upgrade fee" of $30...before that it was increasing the price / decreasing the limits of data plans). If it weren't for my whole family being on US Cell, I'd switch to verizon in a heart beat. Might as well get better phone selection as anymore the coverage and price are about the same.

The unlimited plan includes unlimited roaming - so even if you're in the country and pick up any tower (CDMA not GSM) you are good to go with Sprint.

This, I have been a sprint customer going on 16 years now. The only times it sucks is when you are in a fringe area that keeps switching from Sprint service to roaming.

plans good service sucks - although i did pick up an iphone 4s 2 weeks ago and it seems to get better reception than my nexus s

I have Verizon - and I have been everywhere from the boundary waters in MN to south Texas, out to Idaho, Washington, Cali...never had any issues with coverage.

I know you asked about Sprint - my sister has it and lives in MN, and to echo what others have said she is fine when in a city or along a major interstate...but as soon as she strays more than 5 miles or so from one of those, she's toast. They actually got an 'emergency' phone that is a verizon prepaid so that they know they can get coverage.

Also, Verizon is releasing new plans this week that are shared everything plans...not unlimited, but i was crunching the numbers for us (we have 4 phones on our plan all using data) and it looks like its going to save us at least $50 a month...so there is that.

Don't mean to sound like a schill for Verizon...but I've tried Sprint, AT&T and USCellular...well, you can see where I've landed - read into it whatever you like.

I live in rural WI, and work in the city, and have Sprint. With Sprint, they "tower" share, so your signal is as good as any other carrier.

The key, is the phone. Don't get the iPhone.

I would suggest the Photon, Motorola hasn't forget that SmartPhones are still phones. I hardly ever drop a call, and I used to with the Blackberry, and also the Samsung.

Also, if your signal strength isn't stellar in your home, Sprint will give you an Airrave for free, which basically gives you 5 bars all the time.

Sprint has worked well for me. Even in remote areas, I've still had reception, just a bit slower.

I've had sprint for about 2 years in central iowa. If you're using your phone as a phone, you shouldn't have problems just about anywhere... data on the other hand is usually pretty slow regardless of where you are

I think they are the only big company that offers unlimited data because they know at the rate you can download stuff, you'd never hit a high level of data in any given month anyway
