Chip is back:
"The potential for realignment is heating back up again involving the Big 12. I hope to have more on this later in the week. I can't even talk about what I know right now because I've been sworn to secrecy and will have to get more information from other places."
Some one UT boards are throwing out ideas on FSU and Clemson to the Big 12, then a Big 12-ACC scheduling alliance. Miami? I guess they have been written out of the ******. -

So people think that the big 12 is going to take away the ACC's top programs and the ACC is still going to do a scheduling alliance with them? That seems like a reach. That's like stealing a guy's girlfriend and then asking him if he wants to go out on a double date.

This guy is so fulla ****. If the Big XII picks off ACC teams the B1G will be picking off UVa & UNC and the SEC will be picking off VT and NCST. There won't BE an ACC...

Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***
Grab FSU and Clemson and let's make some divisions.
No protected rivalries.
Texas & Texas Tech in one, TCU & Baylor in the other.
Oklahoma & Oklahoma State with UT and TTU. Kansas & Kansas State in the other.
First one is harder so add Iowa State, and toss in West Virginia for the pseudo-rivalry. Leaving FSU and Clemson for the other.
Division A:
Iowa State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas
Texas Tech
West Virginia
Division B:
Baylor
Clemson
Florida State
Kansas
Kansas State
TCU
Big 12 salivates over the ratings of the Texas-Florida State CCG at Jerryworld.

But given I also just stole your wallet and I am "paying", would you rather just not eat?
Obviously the Big 12, FSU, and Clemson would be the winners in the deal. The ACC? Would it be better to lose FSU and Clemson, and do nothing? Not that it matters, because if FSU and Clemson leave, the ACC as we know it is done. Such alliance would be to allow FSU and Clemson to play the ACC-Big East teams not picked up by the BIG and SEC, without the Big 12 having to go to 16. It is actually not a fundamental change from the ideas of the past few months, just another rumor that the Big 12 (Texoma) does not want to go past 12.

If B12 is getting more money in 2014, that would be the year to add teams. That means getting the ball rolling now.

With FSU and Clemson out of the ACC, you don't have a lot of options for high profile matchups that are going to pull big TV dollars for that scheduling agreement. Okay, so let's give them FSU-Miami and Clemson-Va Tech. Then we can stuff our pockets with all the cash from Texas-NC State or OU-Georgia Tech? How about a KU-Duke football game, or Texas Tech-Virginia. ESPN is reaching for their checkbook as I type this. -

It would not be. Did you read my post? UVa, GT, Va Tech, and Duke would not be there.
The BIG and the SEC get what they get- no change from previous discussion. FSU and Clemson go to the Big 12. Instead of picking up another 4 leftovers from the ACC, the Big 12 stays at 12. Again, not really a new concept there. The alliance is nothing more than the conference being able to go back to an 8 game schedule, and formalizing that the extra OOC game as a Big 12- "ACC" match-up. Not a huge deal, but more value than playing FCS or MAC schools. FSU gets additional game(s) and has its new conference more of an affiliation with its part of the country. It is really just a line-item in trying to get Clemson and FSU to sign now.

I like it.
