Freak out much? It's the name of the conference. Who cares. Not to mention what would they change it to?

And we have not come close to peaking yet.
Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***
Be very interesting to see. I don't think B1G or SEC is done they will get to 16 as SEC has said 14 doesn't work well. Big 12 may need to move quickly or be stuck at 10

Uh not freaking out, but having 10 teams with a name that suggest you have 12 doesn't it seem funny to you?
Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***
Michigan St's AD has an interesting quote saying 14 is clumsy and 16 would be better. Wonder when the next domino will fall
Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***
It is almost Thursday and we await the next domino to fall. What is interesting is this is occurring sduring football season and not during the summer. The 4 team playoff is forcing this forward.
Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***
I still think it would be funny if the B12 takes ACC schools after Texas turned down the ACC
Re: ***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***
I love Rutgers suing the Big East to get out of the exit fees and 27 month wait time. Realignment sure makes folks change their tune quickly.

Big 10 had 11 since '93. The conference name has less to do with the amount of teams and more to do with the brand nowadays.

Didnt someone from michigan say something similar awhile back? People in the big 10 are being open about their desire to go to 16. The question is, is that because that is the plan, or because there is division on whether to expand further.

Or just to assure people that Maryland and Rutgers weren't the end game, because if they were...flop.
My own theory is that Delany wanted to dip his toes in the water of breaking up the ACC and then let other conferences do the real dirty work before he swoops in for the final piece or two. I'm sure he thought the same way when they added just Nebraska and sat back to watch the Pac 16 saga not quite unfold.

****BREAKING NEWS****
My sources tell me nothing has happened today. When is CW going on vacation?

Second of all, even if the B12 did somehow lose 4 teams, that doesn't nullify the GOR. I think it'd take 70% or 80% of the league to bolt to start worrying about that, and the B12 doesn't have enough TV markets to worry about having that many attractive candidates for other conferences.
The whole point the author was making about his upcoming article is that nobody from the B12 is going anywhere for at least 10 years.
That same writer is going to have an article on the GOR coming up. That should be interesting because I heard if 1/2 the teams leave, the GOR doesn't stand up. A lot of KU fans are still worried that the PAC has something up their sleeve and is going to sweeten the pot and try to get OU, OSU, Tech and of course TX again. If that would happen then any other team could leave without penalty. By the way, the SEC offered OU & OSU last time around when OU was looking west. OU was interested in the PAC but not the SEC. The SEC was willing to bring OSU along if it meant they got OU. Now that they are working on a conference channel they may no longer want to do that.
The best thing that could happen for the Big 12 is for the BIG and SEC to grab some founding ACC schools like UNC and Virginia. Then the ACC falls apart and we get who we want after the SEC and BIG takes theirs. This would make the Big 12 an eventual Super Conference and the PAC would be forced to take schools like SDSU.

So is that why UT wants to stay at ten teams? They can break the GOR with five teams moving.
