Re: TCU quarterback Casey Pachall failed drug test
I'll be honest and say i couldnt care less about a drug test if its not affecting their performance. And yeah, we probably dont want to cast stones, we've had a good number of players that probably were lucky not to get caught over the years as well.

Most of those no doubt were random or selected tests where a handful of players were tested.

Why are athletes tested for things that aren't going to give them an advantage on the field. Is pot a performance enhancing drug now?

One says they had 25 drug tests but doesn't say that Pachall was tested 25 times anywhere I can see. I haven't been able to find that tidbit anywhere else when I search either. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying I haven't seen that anywhere. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: posted before I saw your edited post above...

Re: TCU quarterback Casey Pachall failed drug test
I find the comments to the article to be all too revealing of what the values are of many of TCU's fan base (certainly a small sample, for sure). I realize that the values of today are a lot different from my days in college, but to think that this is just "OKAY" and should not get any further attention just seems wrong to me. It is rather clear that the use of weed and other "recreational drugs" amongst the TCU FB team and students was rather commonplace. There are laws and NCAA regulations addressing this situation and these people think that violating those laws and regulations are not a problem???

I'm not condoning drug use of any kind but to think that this is localized to TCU is naive.
I'm guessing that an alarming % of college aged students (as well as adults) would fail drug tests for illegal substances (pot, meth, X, coke and Rx drugs not perscribed to them)

The only reason anyone knows about this guy's positive test is he told the copsduring their investigation of the other idiots on the team. ISU has had more than there fair share of positive drug tests over the years with no suspensions handed down. How do you think Chris Allen ended up in Ames? Boy howdy! The fact "we" don't hear of any failed drug tests at ISU should NOT be construed to mean we haven't failed a few drug tests along the way. This will be shocking to some, but the young men and women representing our university are cut from the same cloth of EVERY collegiate athlete meaning they might drink, smoke, have sex, do drugs, and do some really stupid things.
