Could this Jump Start Realignment?
Penn State accreditation in jeopardy | National News - WYFF Home
If this happened, it would certainly mean PSU getting the boot from the B1G. I'd look for the B1G to add PITT to keep the Pennsylvania market. I could see that basically making it open season on the ACC. Thoughts?

I don't think it will actually happen, but I suppose if they lost accreditation, the B1G would probably do exactly what you suggest. Maybe look to add UNC to gain a new market or something.
Re: Could this Jump Start Realignment Again?
I have a hard time believing that the B1G will kick out Penn State. There is no way that the other members would want to lose out on that revenue. Penn State is one of the most nationally recognized "brands" in college sports.
Re: Could this Jump Start Realignment Again?
I don't see them losing accreditation

yeah, it's not going to happen. Losing accreditation is a 3 step process, and this is the first one. Penn State gets a list of things that they need to address and then they have a certain amount of time to show they've addressed them. There's no way that they don't do that. It's interesting to see that the warning was issued, but it's not going to go much farther than that.

This is just a threat to silence the last few PSU ******** who are ******** about the Freeh Report and the NCAA sanctions. Basically, it's "You think this is bad? Keep on ******** and see what happens."

Is this ACTUALLY what's happening? Or are you just stating an opinion? (Genuine curiosity, not flaming)

Or maybe they saw some of the evidence and perhaps just turned their heads because the athletic department was too big and important to chastise.

Name one school that harbored a child molester for years and had personnel at the highest level cover it up? Not saying that this will happen, just that there isn't a precedent for it.

Based on the article it sounds like maybe there were parts of the Freeh report related to money-handling that warranted the warning. They specifically mention "finances" in the article.
I don't think this is a blind shot to "shut them up" as suggested." I think there were legitimate breakdowns in the report that could lead to loss of accreditation. However, I agree with the other posters: with the new administration there's no way this isn't resolved immediately.
Re:Could this Jump Start Realignment Again?
Yea this would never happen. From the sounds of it if this happened penn state would essentially not be a school anymore or nowhere near the status it has even now.
Re: Could this Jump Start Realignment Again?
Accreditation is a quite a different matter than AAU membership. That said...for all the talk about how important AAU membership is to the Big Ten, there was really very little public comment or public action from the Big Ten about NU getting kicked out of the AAU.
As others have stated, it would take quite a bit for PSU to lose accrediation. But if they did, I certainly don't think it's a given that the Big Ten votes out PSU.

Just an opinion, and a tongue in cheek one at that.
