Champions Bowl to be at Jerryworld
Per the Statesman in Texas....as if there was any doubt
4. Cowboys Stadium will win the rights to the Champions Bowl, insiders say, with an offer that blew away the competition. Never doubted it.

Is JerryWorld big enough to handle the two teams? They might hasve to play it on DFW tarmac for all the people that want to see it.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Well that would be just about their only option if it isn't big enough since they can configure JerryWorld for 110,00 including grass hillsides...er...I mean standing room.

So...2 of the big 12's biggest bowls will be played there?

Re: Champions Bowl to be at Jerryworld
Is this a long term arrangement, or will it rotate regularly?

Jerry badly wants a game that will annually host his beloved alma mater's conference champ with the local BCS conference champ. It appeals to him as a businessman, showman and personally as well.
I know it was definitely a different game back then, but I have a real hard time picturing Jerry as a starting guard and team captain on a national champion team.

Turns out Jimmy Johnson was a teammate of his and Hayden Fry and Johnny Majors were both assistant coaches at that time. Sounds like there was a lot of talent aligned in that team. Bright people that understood life, as well as the game; and succeeded beyond their athletic talents. Too bad so many of today's players are athletes first and reach their life's peak right about the time they are 21-25.

Re: Champions Bowl to be at Jerryworld
I'm still confused on how this new playoff system will work. As I understand, the semifinal games will rotate among bowl sites. So will some years have the Champions Bowl be a semifinal game host and sometimes be a Big 12-SEC champions (of teams not in playoff) matchup? Or is the Champions Bowl never going to be a playoff host. It just seems like it will be weird setup either way.

I'm pretty sure the semifinals and championship game will rotate among the four BCS Bowls. The Champions Bowl will be an annual matchup of a SEC and Big 12 team

And does the Champions Bowl pick before the non-playoff BCS bowls? Who's going to play in the non-playoff BCS bowls?

Re: Champions Bowl to be at Jerryworld
It is still to be determined if the Champions and Rose will or will not be part of the playoffs. If they are, there will be years when non SEC/Big 12 or BIG/PAC teams play in those venues. If the conferences don't want that, they can remove them from the rotation. It is still not decided.

The Champions Bowl concept will basically be the Cotton Bowl on steroids. There wont be two games in Jerry World, The Cotton Bowl just gets the BCS rub
