Big 12 officials apologize to OSU for botched call on game-winning TD

Source: Big 12 apologizes to OSU's Mike Gundy for botched call on Texas' TD | NewsOK.com

I don't think I'll live to see the day that anyone apologizes to ISU for anything that goes against us.

That was pretty terrible. Not only did the ball not make it into the end zone, but it was fumbled. I can understand why they couldn't award OSU possession, but there was clear evidence that it was not a touchdown.

Re: Big 12 officials apologize to OSU for botched call on game-winning TD

I was watching this game live and it looked like the right call - "live action".

Even after slo-mo review I thought no one could conclusively determine it was a fumble. I guess the B12 reviewed it and felt otherwise.

Besides, wasn't it only 2nd down? I know it was under 1-min to play, but UT would have had another 2-plays from the 2-inch line.

This. Kind of pointless on the league's part, IMO.

It just really grinds me when they apologize to other schools for bad calls. There were HORRIBLE calls throughout the 2005 that contributed in a big way to our inability to win the North that year. The particularly egregious ones were the Steve Paris pick 6 that would have ended the Mizzou game that was ruled down by contact, and the Greg Coleman fumble against Baylor that happened clearly after the ball had broken the plane, and KU's QB getting ruled into the end zone on 4th down on the tying TD when he was clearly stopped short of the goal line, OH YEAH, and Todd Blythe's obvious TD against KU that was ruled incomplete.

Not one of those calls was apologized for. **** bad call apologies.

I see it's business as usual in the Big 12.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012.

How about the Todd Blythe "face rape" against UT? I'm not sure if that was 2005 or not. The funny (sad) thing about that is that if that had happened this year instead not only would ISU have not benefitted from the 15 yard penalty, but Blythe would have had to sit out for a play; just adding insult to injury.

And not to digress too much from the OP, but for those that wonder, that is why DMac had to leave... because fans had given up in him. Coaches are paid not to win games, but to sell seats. Winning usually helps that part so they usually go hand in hand, but it is important to recognize the biggest driver.
