Wondering if Hawks had Bill Snyder instead of the $5M Man.
Anyone that can turn K-State into a national power (which is what they were in the late 1990s-early 2000s) has to be considered one of the greatest ever. Yes, he's only been to one BCS bowl game, but the BCS outright screwed K-State out of at least two more. At least twice in that time span he led his K-State team to either 0 or 1 loss regular seasons and rated in the top 5 of the BCS, only to get upset in the Big 12 Championship Game and completely fall out of the BCS. In other words, if he coached at a school with higher cache than K-State, he would have been to a lot more BCS bowl games.
Hate the guy and his program, but I respect what he's done there - twice.
In my opinion he is the greatest ever. He gets the same talent level as ISU, yet in the 90's they were a national power and they are a top 5 team right now. Imagine what the guy could do with USC's, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State players... The guy knows how to teach.
Basically BCS and the TV/cable heads SCREWED K-State since they chose to let in an undeserving 2nd Big 10 team into the BCS Bowl lineup--for so-called ratings, leaving Kstate outQuote:

I don't understand how Kansas State could have been the right place for anybody when Snyder took that job. "Right place, right time" makes no sense in terms of Snyder's work there.

I'm amazed at his ability to recruit and coach. We hear about older coaches not relating to young athletes. How does this man pull it off? He used to schedule non-conference cupcakes. He was heavily criticized when he started to win conference games and challenge the Big Boys. He then scheduled tougher non-conference games and won. Again, how does he do it? He retires, then returns and makes them a winner again. They are a tough team. We need a big effort to win on Saturday.Quote:
