Re: Louisville pushing hard to join the Big 12
Big12 will expand as soon as KSU is not locked into the BCS title game due to not having a CCG.

Maybe, but the current schedule doing more harm than good to the conference right now. One extra game for the conference to beat itself up instead of showing itself off beating other conferences.
Re: Louisville pushing hard to join the Big 12
Two years ago, I would have been all for L'ville joining. Now I happy with where we are. While the 9 game schedule is horribly tough for ISU, I care more about the conference than I ever did before. I enjoy watching more B12 football and basketball that I did when we had 12. Plus I think in the long run this helps ISU more. We get more exposure in Texas which should help recruiting, which should help us be a better team in the long run. No matter if we are in a 10 or 12 team league ISU isn't going to become a national power, but I think 9 game schedule and the exposure it brings give ISU its best chance to become as relevant as it can become.

Assuming Oregon and Alabama don't get beat in their respective CCGs...that's a big assumption.

Yep, these are my thoughts as well.

Ummmmm. Its doing more harm than good for Iowa State winning football games this year. Its making the league a **** load of money, and helping to produce stability.
Of the 4 major conferences, two already play 9 game schedules, and one is moving that way. Our TV networks aren't going to let us go back to 8 games. It just won't happen.

Assuming we'd be playing teams from the Big Ten, ACC, or PAC instead of the MAC, C-USA, and Sun Belt...but why would teams in other major conferences want to schedule us if its likely that they'll lose and further diminish their record?
The round robin is awesome.

It was so close to happening last week...really someone should have chloroformed Barnett and snuck Seneca in.
Totally kidding on the chloroform.
Re: Louisville pushing hard to join the Big 12
Any additional teams is going to lead to creating divisions which will hurt ISU more. Visiting Texas multiple times as such this year is a big deal. Creating divisions where ISU may only play in Texas once per year if at all, is a big down side
Re: Louisville pushing hard to join the Big 12
We need to stop and consider if expansion has actually helped those who have expanded recently. The money is going to be there no matter what. Why further dilute the financial windfall?

This. 12 is only advantageous now if we can get more money. Otherwise, I like having 10. No sense in watering down the payouts.

Even with more money, it might not be advantageous.

Maybe instead of worrying about getting to 12 teams so we can have a CCG, we can simply lobby the NCAA to change the rule stating you need 12 teams to have a CCG.

Ugh. 10 teams with a CCG would be worse than 12 teams with a CCG, IMO.

The Big12 had 12 members and eventually little stability. However, the Pac10 and Big10 had lots at 10 and 10 or 11 members.
