Re: Charlie Weis picking up the tab
Charlie is firmly entrenched in Kansas.
Literally entrenched.

Re: Charlie Weis picking up the tab
I was curious about all this "KU Big 12 losses in a row talk" so I looked at their previous results and they beat Colorado in 2010, however their last current Big 12 member win was their 1st conference game in 2009 against us in Lawrence...hmmm.

The only tab he'll be paying for is the buffalo wild wings tab

I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -

And I'm not saying he will win a bunch of games. All I said was that I am impressed he hasn't lost this team. Having seen his personality, I would have guessed he would have lost them about 5 games ago.
Also, there are a lot of coaches who couldn't win on the Big stage but were more successful on a smaller stage. RichRod comes to mind. In fact, Weis' failure at Florida worries me more than ND. That big program stuff is a completely different game. I think it takes someone like a Saban who says "Screw you guys, I'm awesome and I run this ****" to do it but at the same time they can't cross the line which I think would be very hard.

Re: Charlie Weis picking up the tab
A new coach losing to Rice by 1
Losing to Northern Ill by 7
had a one possession game in the 4th against TCU
Lost by 6 against OSU
Had Texas down by 3 until the last minute of the game and lost by 4
Had Texas Tech beat and lost in OT.
Thats 5-6 games they let get away. Especially Rice, Tech and Texas.
They are better than people think.
Then throw in the fact that
Its Senior Day
I am sure they have us circled
The environment sucks
Like I said before...there is a reason Vegas has us only favored by 5.

Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

This. We better have a damn solid plan and be able to adjust when needed or we are ****ed.

Re: Charlie Weis picking up the tab
Every year, the preseason projections pile up.
Please, go ahead. Find one of them that had Iowa State prepping for a bowl game after the regular season. I'm guilty as charged: You won't find one here.
The Big 12 is too deep. Supposedly. Iowa State wasn't deep enough. Supposedly.
On Saturday, the Cyclones will prove us all wrong yet again, and transform into a bowl eligible team for the third time in four years.
They'll have done it despite inconsistency at quarterback and the need to play both Jared Barnett and Steele Jantz at times throughout the season. They'll have done it despite losing a leader and one of their best defensive talents in linebacker Jake Knott to a shoulder injury.
The Cyclones went on the road to beat rival Iowa in Iowa City for state bragging rights for the first time in almost a decade. They went on the road to roll over then-No. 15 TCU, a Frogs team missing its quarterback but still possessing plenty of talent.
Baylor had been the team best at cracking bowl droughts the past two seasons, but the Cyclones clawed their way ahead of Baylor in the standings with a convincing win on Oct. 27 that convinced a whole lot of folks (myself included) that the Cyclones weren't messing around and wouldn't need a history-making upset to crack the postseason like they did last season against Oklahoma State and at Nebraska back in 2009.
All that stands between Iowa State and lending more credence to Paul Rhoads' work in Ames is a Kansas team that hasn't beaten a BCS conference team in its last 20 tries and hasn't beaten a Big 12 team in 19. Rhoads simply doesn't lose games when he's favored and loves to spring the upset.
No upset necessary this time.
Iowa State's going bowling.

Re: Charlie Weis picking up the tab
Kind of kidding, kind of nitpicking. Could this potentially screw up recruiting for him? Suppose one of the recipients of his "bought for you" ticket is the relative (brother/sister) of a future football recruit. Isn't that technically a monetary value gift to a family member?
Yeah, yeah, I know it's a KU football ticket and really doesn't have much street value, but has this thought occured to anyone else or am I just thinking too much like an NCAA employee?
