Haha, Spurrier talked so much trash to UT back then when he was at Florida that I don't see this being a good fit.

When the conference doesnt get recognized for its depth, its pretty much requiring an undefeated season, which is made incredibly difficult by the depth.
The 4 team playoff might help this though.

I think he was Oklahoma high school player of the year and all were shocked he chose OSU over OU, then all-time leading passer at OSU (not sure if crazy red-headed geezer caught him), and now has more wins than any other OSU coach. To me, that just smells of a guy who wants to get his NC at OSU and has the money to maybe do it.

How differently would both the SEC and Big 12 be perceived if Texas had won the title that year. It would have cut that SEC national title streak in half and probably cemented the concept of Big 12 and SEC being the #1 and #2 conferences, if not tied for #1.

Re: A lot of smoke about Gundy to Tennessee
For those wondering, Gundy wants more control/input about the OOC scheduling. Wants an easier schedule but AD is scheduling harder/sexier OOC matchups. Oklahoma State football: Website reports Mike Gundy interviews for Tennessee job | NewsOK.com
Reports indicate the relationship between Gundy and OSU athletic director Mike Holder is not what it once was. Last year's contract negotiations dragged out and did not go as smoothly as everyone involved had hoped.
Additionally, Gundy clearly wants more of a role in scheduling, saying repeatedly that he prefers to play the easiest nonconference slate possible. Instead, Holder recently signed off on an ESPN-made game against Mississippi State at Reliant Stadium in Houston for the Cowboys' 2013 season opener, and CBS reported last month that OSU and Florida State are in discussions to play a game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington in 2014. Both games would provide a huge payday and plenty of television eyeballs for a marquee matchup, as well as fill hard-to-plug gaps in OSU's early season schedule. -

Sounds like Gundy was just offered the Tennessee job... This could be interesting.

I was actually reading that article when the newer article popped up as breaking news... I think he's leaving this time. Sucks for players and fans of OSU.

Nope, you're good. Gundy/Arky rumors were yesterday morning/afternoon, Bielema announcement was last evening.
