Re: Kingsbury headed to Texas Tech?
IMO, this is a CPR hire for TTU. An alumni, someone familiar with the program, not a lot of experience, and someone who might not look like a big splash to people outside of the program. I think this is an excellent hire and someone that will absolutely help TTU.

Do you mean CFH? CPR is not an alumnus and had plenty of experience by the time he took over.

I agree with you here.
Re: Kingsbury headed to Texas Tech?
Anyone hear about Tubberville leaving a dinner with recruits to go accept the Cincy job?

great point

He probably needs a good DC like Chizslack.
Speaking of jobs, is Wiscy basically the only outstanding vacancy? Are they waiting for bowl games to be played before announcing?
Re: Kingsbury headed to Texas Tech?
Used to make fun of Kingsbury when he was on the sidelines at Houston, he looks like a total hipster tool.

haha yep. got up to take a call as they were getting their food and never came back. Class Act.
Also on Johnny Manziel, he is going to have two top 15 OL drafted. lets not forget that nobody could touch him all year.

My first thought as well.
Good move for TT. I was hoping they would make another Tommy type hire.

Barry Alvarez is busy preparing UW's football team for the Rose Bowl as coach. No time for those AD tasks. He did announce he was paying himself about $120,000 to coach this one game, though.
Can you imagine working for an AD who thinks he's better at your job coaching football than you? No wonder Bielema is a Soo Pig now.

Tubberville should not get any good recruits ever with his classless acts. What a total Dbag!

I would normally agree with you, but I usually don't put a lot of stock in a coach's ability when he is the offensive coordinator working under a great offensive mind. In saying that he did learn from the best. Does anybody know if he called the plays or if Sumlin did?

Sumlin had the luxury of having Dana Holgerson as his OC his first year in Houston, Kingsbury was hired to basically implement Holgerson's 'Air Raid' offense that was perfected at Texas Tech. So, Sumlin didn't call plays and he brought guys in to implement THEIR offenses, not his.KK called plays for Sumlin at Houston, like Holgerson did before him. Sumlin has been very fortunate to surround himself with great playcallers, I think he's overrated as an offensive mind, but he's a great CEO type of head coach, and has made great hires in the past. He will miss KK, but he made a slam dunk hire replacing Holgerson, no reason to think he can't now.
Re: Kingsbury headed to Texas Tech?
Tech got themselves their very own Hoiberg. I hope he doesnt work out as well as Fred.
