Having 90% of your teams in a bowl game really helps.

At first glance, $26.2M for B12 vs. $25.8M for B10 does look that big. Then you read this part of the article... The Big 12 figure also doesn’t include third-tier television rights, which are controlled by the schools. Texas’ ESPN-based Longhorn Network is worth $300 million over 20 years. The Jayhawk Network added some $6.5 million to Kansas’ coffers in 2012, according to federal papers filed by the university. It really makes the difference stand out. When KU is making almost $7M more than any team in B10, things are good.

Another place that hurts the pocketbook for bowls is the ticket allotment. If the school doesn't sell all of their allotment, they have to eat that cost. Not a problem for us this year!

They are breaking ground this year for the new track, softball and soccer facilities and the next big announcement is the football stadium renovations. It's good to be in the Big 12 right now.

Any idea how much we bank off of our 3rd tier network?

Before you pay yourself on your back, remember that the big 12 tv deal is new, the other conferences are closer or in the midst of renegotiations...so hence, this is but temporary and ultimately meaningless.
