Overall, college basketball just doesn't draw well anymore.
It's my favorite sport. I wish it attracted more fans, but the tickets largely don't sell these days.

Oh I agree, just surprised there wasnt people on the lower levels thought they might put people down there to make it at least look respectable for ESPN

Probably too early in the game for that.
In our lean attendance years, they always waited quite a while before opening up the lower levels.

OU never draws well. I don't really see much of a difference in basketball attendance this year. The teams that don't usually draw well, aren't drawing well again this year and the teams that always draw well are still attending well.

Of course, that attendance figures might tell another story.

Southern basketball especially.

And OU\OSU havent been helped by poor performance and an NBA team opening up shop in OKC a few years ago.

It's tough for OU to grab rebounds if Texas is always turning it over and never getting a shot up.

Draping the shirts over the chairs does make a person work a little to tell if the seat is occupied or not. That was a good decision.

That is OU basketball for you. Even when they had that great run in the 2000's under Sampson their actual attendance for a weeknight game was weak. I am guessing the last time they consistently drew crowds was in the 80's under Billy Tubbs.

For the past ten years or so, the south schools of the conference has seen big time drop offs in terms of attendance. Thank god the Big 12 tourney is in KC for the next few years. Texas schools really could care less. Tons of empty seats at OU, OSU and Texas games this year.
