I believe the Heart of Dallas was a Big 10 vs. Big 12/Conf USA every other year, and this coming season will be the last year and it is up for renegotiation. I think The Big 12 has earned the opportunity to have 9 bowl tie ins, and I think it would be a good idea to secure the Heart of Dallas as the 9th tie in if they can. The payout from them is much larger then most lower tier bowl games.

2. Cotton (Big 12 #2 vs. SEC #3)
3. Gator (Big 12 #3 vs. ACC #3)
4. BWW (Big 12 #4 vs. Big 10 #4)
5. Alamo (Big 12 #5 vs. Pac 12 #2)
6. Holiday (Big 12 #6 vs. Pac 12 #3)
7. Meineke (Big 12 # 7 vs. Big 10#6)
8. Liberty (Big 12 #8 vs. SEC #8)
9. Heart of Dallas (Big 12 #9 vs. Big 10 #7)
This would be perfect, but I hope the Big 12 can keep the Fiesta. Having the Sugar, Cotton, and Fiesta as the top 3 bowls would be epic.

I don't think there is any hope to keep the Fiesta as a tie-in UNLESS that bowl does not become one of the access bowls for the playoff in 2014.

I can't imagine us ending up with 9 bowl tie ins. This year was an odd one in that we had a pile of teams in the middle of the pack at the 6 and 7 win level. If you have a couple teams rise to the top, that will put to many L's out there for everyone else to have 9 of 10 teams bowl eligible. Plus, if you get an at large bid to the BCS/playoff, you are now to 10 bids. As long as KU is around, I don't see us sending all 10.

Gator Bowl can be iffy as far as weather - though it has the most tradition of the logical choices. I say let's get the Big XII champion into the Orange Bowl!

Closest ISU ever got to a Florida bowl was the Peach in 1977. Not bad, but 80 degrees in Miami beats 50 in Atlanta any day!!!
N. Hutchinson Island sucks! S. Hutchinson Island RULEZZ!

Just because you have 9 tie ins doesnt mean you use them all every year. I think itd be good for the conference to have 9 and then if it doenst use it that bid can fall to a CUSA team or something, instead of what we've had at least the last couple years and had big 12 teams in at large bowls (us this year, Mizzou the last). The SEC doesnt use all of its every year (our liberty bowl spot, for example).
