James Patton- Interior OL was "encouraged" to look for other employment, ended up at Indiana

Bruce Kittle- Tackles and OTs wont be retained in that position - will probably be apart of the new recruiting tier though

Jackie Ship- DTs - Probably the most surprising was fired today

Ship - in particular - is a good coach, is he not?
Think this is more an issue of talent, & OU has lacked it on the DL & OL (well, at least by their standards).
So are these guys casualties for lack of recruiting or is it more 'coaching' related?

Shipp was the best coach of the group but was striking out to much on the recruiting trail. Kittle should have never been hired. Patton was a good coach and decent enough recruiter but apparently Bob was not pleased with the mentality of the OL. Just not mentally tough there

The overall message from Bob was pretty clear with the hires, he went and got 2 great recruiters (Bedenbaugh,Montgomery) and we saddled up with the $$$ giving these two huge raises. and we went and got extremely technically sound Special Teams/TE coach, something OU fans have been screaming over for ages

We filled our spots poaching from WVU, Michigan and Wisconson
