Now, compare that with how many games he's covered of each of those teams:Quote:

Hard to disagree with these rankings. If we want the respect, we have to go out and earn it. Losing to Rutgers and Tulsa in our last two bowl games doesn't help much.
If talking just football I would see it like this.
- Oklahoma (Who has come close to them in the past couple decades)
- Texas (hurt some by recent struggles)
- Kansas State (Synder)
- TCU (holding)
- West Virginia (hurt by moving to Big 12)
- Oklahoma State (Hard to get out of the shadow)
- Baylor (not fading but slowing without RG3)
- Texas Tech (fading quickly without Leach)
- Iowa State (upsets and locker room speeches, plus making bowl games moves us up)
- Kansas ( had a good season a few years ago, but nothing since)
- West Virginia
- Kansas State
- Oklahoma State
- Texas Tech
- Iowa State
Diet pop sucks. What were we talking about again?
Time for CPR to shock the world like KU did a few years back and KSU continues to do.
Maybe it's just because I'm in academia, but I don't consider university "branding" a sports-only thing. Branding offices are not part of the athletic department, they work with the athletic department.
In terms of academic stature ISU, Texas, and Kansas are at the top, with a long gap between them and the rest of the schools. For sports, I guess I can't disagree with in terms of "sports branding" with Ubbs. However, combining sports and academics, I think ISU is easily middle of the pack.
Ask a random person on the street anywhere in the country to name one land grant school in the great plains with a D1 sports program. I'd say they are more than likely going to say Iowa State.
Edit: Oh and I forgot... screw Ubben and his Misery education!
I would say 7 out of 10 people in Dallas don't even know ISU is in the Big 12. I attribute that to a combination of Texas ego, stupidity, and a weaker brand than UT/aTm, etc.

Do the math, probably less than a 3rd of the population cares enough about college football to know which schools go to which conference. If that is the case, we are doing pretty good to have a third of Dallas knowing what conference we are in.
