Big 12 Conference Tourney Predictions

• My big upset is Texas over K State. I think KU is lucky that Texas moved up to the 7 seed.
• I've got Kansas and ISU in one Semi with OSU and Texas in the other.
• ISU loses to Okie State in the Final.

If it is Baylor and ISU, I don't see Baylor winning.

I'm worried...will leave it at that. Team really needs to show up and play with a chip on their shoulder. Tired of going out in the first round, but it very well could happen again.

I hope it is ISU and KState. I just think it will be especially sweet to beat the mildcats head to head in the big game.

I honestly think it will be OSU vs Kansas mostly because we haven't won a game in the Big 12 tourney in how many years?

My predictions:

1st Round:

(7) Texas 74, (10) TCU 55: Texas is 5-3 with Kabongo back in the lineup. TCU's only Big 12 victories are ironically not against the bottom teams, but Kansas and Oklahoma. TCU puts up a decent fight, but Texas will be too much.

(8) West Virginia 68, (9) Texas Tech 54: Looking back, I still can't believe we lost to Texas Tech. They're looking awful right now. West Virginia, despite having their worst season in years, still swept Texas Tech in the regular season. It shouldn't be any different in the Big 12 tournament.

Quarterfinals(Tomorrow):

(5) Iowa State 81, (4) Oklahoma 74: Offensively, this could be a fun game to watch. We have a great offense, and when we are hitting threes, we are nearly unstoppable. However our defense is pretty bad so Oklahoma will keep up with us. As long as we get a few stops, we will win.

(1) Kansas 86, (8) West Virginia 62: The Jayhawks put the Mountaineers out of their misery and dominate to set up a third meeting with Iowa State in the semifinals.

(2) Kansas State 68, (7) Texas 64: The Longhorns were swept by K-State in the regular season, but they were without Myck Kabongo for the first game, and Kabongo was only in his fourth game back in the second one. This one could be an upset if Texas can get clicking on offense, but I think that Kansas State will neutralize Kabongo and hold them off in this one.

(3) Oklahoma State 87, (6) Baylor 85(OT): Probably the best game of the quarterfinals. The Bears absolutely have to win this game to have any shot at making the NCAA tournament. The Cowboys are probably the hottest team in the Big 12 right now. Pierre Jackson does what he has to do to keep Baylor in it, but Marcus Smart is too much for the Bears to handle, and the Cowboys eek one out in overtime.

Semifinals(Friday):

(5) Iowa State 86, (1) Kansas 83: It's tough to beat the same team three times, especially a team that has pushed you to overtime twice and really should have beaten you both times. I believe that we will come out with a bunch of energy, and we get our revenge on Kansas by stopping them in the Big 12 tournament.

(3) Oklahoma State 67, (2) Kansas State 62: The Cowboys and Wildcats split their games this season, and both of the games were close, so this game should be no different. Marcus Smart plays well in winning time, and the Cowboys join the Cyclones in the finals.

Championship(Saturday):

(3) Oklahoma State 86, (5) Iowa State 82: The Cowboys are just way too hot, and if their players are on, they'll beat the Cyclones in this game. The Cyclones put up a great fight, but they just don't have enough defense to beat Oklahoma State.

Baylor my have the most talented team in the Big 12. I understand they are poorly coached but you know BU will be playing with a great sense of urgency. I can see them bowing out early to OSU but I can also see them go on a run.

I know a lot of people see how hot Baylor has been, but what is it CW always says? Baylor is Baylor is Baylor. I could see them winning one game, but I would be surprised if they make significant noise in the tourney.
