Is his son taking over?

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

If things don't work out for GMac, I would be all about getting the General in Ames.

I'm pretty sure he is. I think TT named him the successor to Bobby.

Yeah, his son is taking over immediately, as was mentioned in the initial post. I wonder if there was a falling out, some health issues, or if his heart just isn't in it anymore. I remember earlier in the year him either missing a game or having to leave a game early because he didn't feel well, but I don't know if that was anything serious or not.

a commentator for the UL/Marq game mentioned he didnt have the heart anymore. Maybe that and they just arent that good anymore.

ripvdub pulled a fast one on me. Added the edit to show Pat was taking over.

That does seem quite out of the blue. I try to keep a close watch on the other teams in the league - as does most people here - and I didn't see this one during the season. I thought he might step aside at the end of the year but had no idea it would be so sudden.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Agreed. I thought it would be this year or next. Friend and I were actually talking about that this weekend - discussing how far he'd push that career win record up there.

I guess not any further (until he unretires ).

Wow, this is really suprising! I wonder if Pat Knight will pull a Keno next year and turn Tech into a powerhouse? (or at least a ranked team)
Tech actually has some good young talent, and their young point guard, Robertson or something like that, was texas high school player of the year. He is a pretty good player.

For much of the year, people have been speculating that this would be it. Pat has been doing a lot of the post game media stuff, and the weekly B12 teleconference stuff this year.

Please, lets not go there. Maybe the worst idea I've seen in some time.
