Re: Nebraska BBall Program Now better than Us

Nebby was a better team than us this year, that much we know.

As far as comparing the state of our programs, I don't know that's a pretty tough one. This a really depressing discussion though, kind of like arguing whose pinto's have more horsepower.......

I'm not not real thrilled with the lack of progress in the last couple of years, but all we can do is wait and see at this point.

Good for Nebraska. Glad to see them salvage a half way decent season. I think they'll be back at square one next year with all the seniors going.
Doc's late hire actually worked to his advantage. The returning players and signed recruits from Collier's program didn't have any other options to consider that late in the game (Aug?).

Shouldn't they at least win one NCAA tourney game before we start bumping them up the food chain? Heck, at least MAKING the NCAA tourney?

Nah, finding new and "unique" ways to tear down our team and rip on our coach is much more fun!

No not whatever it takes. If that were the case JP could have hired Huggins to be the coach. It has to be done right, clean, and have no bad after affects.

One season doesn't define a program. Just because their team was better than ours this year, doesn't mean that their program is better.

Yeah...in reality NU is at the bottom of the Big 12, with three other Big 12 North teams...

Take off the rose colored glasses. Reality sometimes hurts. This team is going nowhere fast. Next year shows no optimism. I think its really funny that most people on this board think Lucca is the answer to all the problems. But i'd like to know exactly how many people on here have actually seen the guy practice or play in a game. Remember Jerry Curry and Rodney Hampton were great shooters. They really helped us out alot didn't they.

Doc is a good coach, I kind of like the guy. He wanted that job when it came open. It came open at a time when the players couldnt just go and leave. If he wins at Neb great. Nebraska makes runs at the NIT and /or NCAA every so often and they never are able to keep that going. There have been good coaches before Doc. I think there are issues there that go beyond who the head coach is. Give McD Mugger and see what the results are. He opens up a lot for the guards. Do they have other post players.

Very good point. More people should realize this.

No optimism at all for next year? None, eh?

I'd guess you watched about 2 or 3 games this year and certainly not many in the last couple weeks. Garrett, yeah - he showed no progress. Brackins remained in his slump - man what a waste. Sean got completely lucky working himself out of that shooting slump and into a mediocre 30+% 3-point shooting. Wes will always be hurt and never amount to anything.

And, for the record, I've seen Lucca twice in the summer, at practice and warming up before games. How many times have you seen him?

While some are wrongfully billing this kid as the savior, he does something many of our guys struggle with - make lots of shots.

Your posts don't send a "I'm being realistic message" or anything remotely close to it. They send a "I'm bored and want to stir the pot" and "Our team stinks right now, I'm madder than hell and everyone needs to know about it!".

You have got to be kidding me. No optimism? You don't think players will develop? With all our young players you have no optimism? I think you might want to rethink your fan hood as an Iowa State fan.

Boy you are a Debbie Downer. The type of person who can ***** and ***** but doesn't have any answers.

It's been two freakin' years and there has been lots of turnover. Certianly the coaching staff deserves much blame but it's way too early to write them off like you do.

Yeah as a side note for the half empty crowd, life is a lot like watching sports. You're going to have highs and lows and some disappointment along the way. You can make that life as good as bad as you want to. It all comes down to attitude.

I always think the true test of a person is when you see them at their worst, not their best...
