Nebraska BBall Program Now better than Us

As it pains me to say it. Nebraska bball is on the rise. I never thought the day would come when there bball program looked to be in better shape than ours. We just back to back losing seasons for the first time in 18 years. Nebraska just locked up another 18 win season while redshirting 4 scholarship players. With todays win over CU they will have 7 conference wins on the year. There should never be a year in which NU has a better bball team than us. This years team lacked talent, which we all know. But i'm not sure it didn't lack coaching as well. You look at some of our not so good teams since Johnny left. We still played tough at home and were able to pull off some upsets every now and then. And we never had back to back losing seasons. Call it rebuilding, call it whatever you want. Blame it on losing 8 players from 2 years ago, and rave about what McD was able to do to put together a makeshift class. I know this, Floyd never had back to back losing seasons even with the likes of Lee Love running the show. Eustachy never did it with the help of Tony Rampton. But somehow McD found a way. I love the guy to death, and really hope we find some success soon. But facts are facts. The guy has NEVER beat a ranked opponent. Some of the blame needs to fall directly on this coaching staff.

From what some NU fans have said, none of the redshirted players are any good, and without Maric they only have 2 good players, Cookie Miller, and JR strowbridge. Nebraska basketball will be stuck in mediocrity forever.

Lets see how they do without Maric, who has 15 points and 14 rebounds and 5 assists so far today, with 8 minutes left to play. Yes, 14 - that's not a typo. He's leading each of those 3 categories for the Huskers - playing a CU team that has officially quit.

However you try and spin it, none of our previous three coaches inherited a situation like McD did. It's simply not fair to compare him to Floyd, Eustachy, and Morgan.

Harley is also now making an impact. This gives NU 3 good guards which is what you need to win with in college BB. Let's see what GMac can do next year when he should have at least 3 guards with D1 talent available in the rotation.

NU is definetely better than they were last year. This just in - Doc Sadler is going to do well in Lincoln. He was a good hire.

If ISU had a player that was allowed to foul all the time and never get called, take up the lane, and be able to score over anyone things would be diffent in ames.

Why do you redshirt 4 players when you need all the help you can get to win??

Here is what they say: He sacrficed this year to grow them for the future. Yet he may he still make it to the NIT. Not bad. He may get to replay Creighton in Omaha on Tusday before the NCAAs in the Quest Center.

Didnt we split with them and had a good chance to beat them the first go around with our best player out?

McD could have redshirted guys this year to build for the future but he felt they need to play

Re: Nebraska BBall Program Now better than Us

You can't say they have better players than us. But their coach found a way to win 3 more conference games playing the exact same schedule. Just seems to me, we get outcoached alot as well to having inferior talent, which also the last time i checked falls on the coach. Say what you want about wayne. All he did is post an NCAA 2nd round berth, and an NIT Final 4 in 3 years.

Did their best player have injury issues this year?

Re: Nebraska BBall Program Now better than Us

Yeah but those 4 red shirt are all going to be new next year and Maric is gone. No experience at all. It will be a reach for them to do better.

As far as this years team goes, mostly seniors.
