Does Martin Remind anybody of Eustachy?

Honestly I was having flashbacks the more I watched him on Saturday, down to the offense and defense of the teams as well - extremely tough on the boards and defensively, not very much structure on offense, and has a penchant for dropping multitudinous F-bombs. I don't think he's as good of a coach as Eustachy but I think with Delonte Hill doing his recruiting for him he could have success in the Big 12. You can win a lot of games playing defense like they do, and with a great penetrator like Pullen for the next 3 years I think they'll be solid.

He reminds me more of Vinnie Jones from Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Re: Does Martin Remind anybody of Eustachy?

Actually, I kind of thought their defense has been somewhat mediocre much of the season, mostly the Big 12.

Their D was 'ok'. Poor post D. Brackins posterized one of their bigs at one point. Pullen was a guard that I was really hoping we would get. That kid is the small spark that keeps them winning.

No. You give LE a team with that much talent and they sure as hell don't have 10 losses.

Does he drive to away games under the guise of fearing flight so that he can party on campus with co-eds from the other schools?

Re: Does Martin Remind anybody of Eustachy?

A ton of talent cures a lot of coaching shortcomings of which Martin has many. Not in the same league as LE as far as coaching ability - when LE had talent he knew what to do with it. I think if Martin had the talent ISU has this year he wins 6 or 7 games total and loses many by large margins.

For the record, it was not under the "guise" of fearing flight. The man was flat out afraid of flying.

Wait, I thought they hired him for his recruiting?

Folks, there are damned few coaches the equal of Larry Eustachy. That man can get more wins out of less talent than anyone else that has ever came through this area.

I can name another coach - Keno Davis.

Re: Does Martin Remind anybody of Eustachy?

Good point! Keno does very well at Drake with very little. I would love to see how he would do in the Big 12 year in and year out. My comment is not speculation one way or the other--just a question not likely answered anytime soon. Personally, I love it when little Drake does well at any sport. Drake basketball is giving all underdogs hope for the future.
