Kelvin Sampson and Greg Popovich

WHy does Greg Popovich associate with Kelvin Sampson? I thought Pop was classier than to hang out with the likes of Sampson.
Is Popovich going to hire Sampson as a Spurs assistant?

From last night's Spurs v. Pistons game:

Game notes
Former Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson was behind San Antonio's bench again, continuing his informal role as a guest of Popovich. ...

Okay no doubt he's cheated to get better players. He's still a great coach. The Pro's are probably a better place for him to be.

All right, I'll bite.

He's probably just trying to get a better phone package.

Kelvin Sampson should go a commercial for Sprint, Verizon, AllTell, AT&T, Cingular, or any other cell phone company. That would be pure gold!

If he got this for recruiting, would the Wizard of Westwood come after him? Or just that goofy one from the van?

Re: Kelvin Sampson and Greg Popovich

Clearly, Sampson has a problem following the rules. However, he is a fine BB coach and in the grand scheme of things the rules he broke were relatively minor. Again, I am not condoning anything he did at all...but this is not on a level with what Dave Bliss had going on at Baylor for example.

The Spurs are 1-5 with Sampson behind the bench. They need to LOSE him, quickly.
