The $5 million in revenue is men's basketball.
According to that statement, women's basketball loses money:
Revenue: $1,082,103
Expenses: $1,940,940
Net loss: $858,837
Of course the revenue includes a line item of $444,003 listed as "direct institutional support". It's hard to know where that really comes from.
Incidentally, if you want to see how we're getting screwed by the Big 12, look at football revenue. We got $4.4 million from the Big 12 which is generated by the conference tv contract and bowl revenue sharing. Texas got $7.1 million for the same thing. We play the same number of games and travel in the same conference. Until Pollard gets that addressed, we'll never be competitive. And that's with the Big 12's TV & bowl deals, which are very sad compared to the Big Ten and SEC. How sad? Iowa got $10.2 million in football revenue from the Big Ten, and they don't even have a conference championship game to generate revenue.
