A top tier college athletic dept? Not having a player qualify?

I thought the NCAA had specific policies to keep that from happening?

Re: Texas

J'covan Brown, stud recruit, didn't qualify. That will probably take 4-5 wins off of their season...he is that good.

he wasn't even really expected to start. It'll hurt their depth, but not affect them much IMO.

They are really really hyped about Dogus Balbay, a turkish point guard. I think it's unwarranted to a degree but i guess we'll see.

Call me stupid. But what's the deal with that avatar? Looks like Texas with a tumor on the NW corner?

That's the Republic of Texas. Baylor was chartered by Texas the independent country in 1845. Made it up in a helmet thread a while back and liked it.

Dogus was Craig Brackins teammate in college. And from what I understand, he had a good chance at starting at the 2, since Abrams is playing the point.

I saw Balby and Brackins play when Brewster played at MCI. You could tell Brackins and Negedu were good players, but Balby was by far the best player on the court that day. He put so much pressure on the opposing team with his penetration as a point guard. Even more impressive was how good he was defensively. I came away from that game extremely impressed. The biggest question, particularly for a point guard is how his strenghts will translate to the next level at a program like Texas.
