Re: If you love a good meltdown

My favorite part, just when the game is almost over... ASU presumably hasn't taken the lead yet.

we have this, just settle down.

we will be fine, no one will remember this game after we have 9-10 wins this year

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

That board looks a lot like CF did 1 year ago. There are actually people calling for Sherman to be fired...after 1 game. Just like people were saying that last year with Chizik.
Honestly, I don't remember that many people attacking Chizik last year. I think most understood it was a year to adjust, even if the losing wasn't fun. I'm sure there were some though.

Too bad this board's history doesn't go back that far, but I do remember the meltdown following the Kent State game. Amazing what a year can do, especially when you consider the improved play we saw after the disastrous Texas game last year!

Yeah, me too - except I just went back and read the first few pages of the game thread ... and it did go pretty negative pretty fast.

Not so much Chizek ripping (in fact none at all in what I read) ... but yikes Meyer gets blasted frequently and with avengance.

Its there but you have to search the Archive Bin ... Search "Northern Iowa" early Sept 2007

Re: If you love a good meltdown

I spend as much time on the Aggies Rivals board as I do the ISU one.

Their meltdown has been epic, extra large popcorn with butter proportions.

It was so bads the mods offered to pass out razor blades to lift everyones sports :)

The schools have many similarities and their fans are a lot like us, even if either of us will never admit it.

Bottom line there were many that did not like the Sherman hire at first, but have tried to be supportive. Probably similar to those who tried to support WM after his basketball hire.

Also, most of their fans that I have contact with, now pretty much wish Sed well and recognize it was his decision. I will say again, it is the surprise of it that made it bitter for them. Based on their direct information, as of late afternoon the day before signing, he was going to be an Aggie. How would we feel?

I am Clone first and always, but parent and fan of Aggies.

God their board layout is damn near impossible to read.

And I, Bruno, will dive 1,000 feet into a block of cement. On my head, yet!

That's funny... also had to laugh about the guy on there with the name "BigBrotherUT" If they had a rep feature I'm sure he'd be pretty far in the red...

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!
