I think Pinkel has a lot of character. Of Course I don't like him because he coaches Missouri, but very much respect him.
I find it interesting that the fans in Missouri were not sure of him his first 5 years there. Some didn't think he could do it and wanted him fired, just like Manginio. I believe that Chizik will be better than Pinkel or Manginio if he stays in Ames. I see ISU having the breakout season next year with 8 or 9 wins.

i dont really know about coach pinkel.... when he spoke to my team about not doing drugs and being a good citizen, it made me want to go out and do those things more. coach christenson, their o coordinator was a heckuva coach i thought.

Pinkel was very much on the hot seat a few years back. Fans didn't like him. Media seemed to think he was an unapproachable jerk. Players were quitting the team and getting kicked off in larger than normal numbers. Was not recruiting enough of the abundant local talent. Was under heavy pressure to fire his OC for wasting Brad Smith's abilities.
He tells his OC to go find a new offense, they bring in the spread ,start winning and now all is well. The fans, the media, AD and everyone else seem to have forgiven him.
Amazing what a Heisman worthy QB and a winning record can do for a coaches well-being.

Pinkel loves to play that "character" card. If you dig a little deeper you can find out for yourself what he's made of. Football coaches in general aren't always the nicest guys on the block, but it annoys me when one always seems to be working on his image for the media instead of just being himself.

The fact that the Big12 reversed their decision on call makes it questionable to allot of people. | | |

I guess I really don't know much about Pinkel outside of things related to ISU. He may be a saint of a man, but he sure did act like a jerk after the ISU game in question.

They're doing well, but Daniels is most of that. He's one of the best in the country and they will miss him next year.

Apologies from the Big XII? Meh, most of us are still waiting for them to apologize for the "missed FT- 3PFG- missed FT" incident (by the way, who knows the date, or at least the year, that occurred?).
Sure, the conference went out of their way to explain why the points couldn't be taken off of the board once it occurred (to which I still say BS - officials have no problems fixing scores on a reviewed 2pt/3pt basket), but they never did apologize for the incident even occurring in the first place.
Hate to turn this political, but the Big XII likes to play political games with us. It's a lot like the difference between much needed road repairs in Wyoming vs. a "needed" expansion for a museum in Chicago. Who's gonna get the money first? The museum in Chicago, because Chicago has a lot more political power than Wyoming has.

Pinkel was, is and always will be a *****, and I'm a Mizzou fan.
Two friends of mine played for him about 5 years ago and hated him. Up until last year when I'd go home to Missouri all you'd hear at any of the greasy spoons were how Pinkel needed to go. Like it was said, amazing what a top 10 ranking will do for you.
