The Big 10 may be horrible, but we'd probably finish in the cellar of that conference this year. Just like we will in our own conference this year...

Re: Big 10 FB is absolutely horrid!
It's not uncommon for ISU/LSU fans, after a loss, to take a shot at the Big 10. Not uncommon at all...

If you think the Big Ten is HORRID, then college football as a whole is just plain awful. The Big 12 has absolutely NO defense, the SEC has less offense than the Big Ten (but they're AMAZING because they're the SEC), and the ACC, Big East, and Pac 10 are bad because that's the label they've been given for so long.
Look, obviously you're biased, but Big Ten football is about defense. Penn State was putting up some insane offensive numbers until last night. Illinois is a decent offensive team, and MSU, Iowa, Northwestern, and Minnesota are all somewhere in between. This is most horrible post I have ever read! I am still trying to figure you out. You claim to be an ISU student who, tell me if I am wrong, is in the Big 12, but are a fan of the Squawks! You stick up for eveything on this website that is Squawk football and Big 10 and give no props to the Clones or the Big 12. Why are you even going to ISU and why are you even on this website? I'm lost!
On another note, if the Big 12 has no defense and the SEC has no offense, I would love to watch Big 10 team play a Big 12/SEC team just to see how bad the Big 10 team would lose, and you can't count the Clone/Squawk game! So, Penn St or Ohio St vs Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Texas Tech or Mizzou would result in the Big 10 losing. Why is this? It is b/c the Big 10 still plays in the past with the Option, I, Wishbone, etc... and still hasn't quite grasped the spread. Michigan is trying it, but we see how that is working for them!
So, tell me I'm wrong in this matter and please tell me your story b/c I am confused reading every post you have on this website.

First of all, Missouri's 56-31 loss to Texas is nothing like Ohio St. 35-3 destruction. Missouri actually outscored Texas in the second half, it was just too little too late. Ohio St. was never in the USC game.
Second, if you want a real judge of how stong a conference is, you look at the non conference schedule/results. The Big12 was 38-10 in a tough non conference schedule which included games against 6 ranked teams (4 in North, 2 in South) and was 3-3 against those ranked oponents. The Big 10 is 31-10 with 3 games still to be played in a non confence schedule that included 4 raked teams and was 1-3 against those ranked oponents. It is obvious that the Big 12 is better from top to bottom.

I was completely ticked off yesterday to find out here in CR that I had to watch Michigan v. Michigan St instead of Texas v. OSU. Now that is a travesty folks! Two unranked Big 10 teams instead of #1 vs #6. You figure that out.
I could only handle about a quarter of that Michigan game.... ZZZZZ! i'm with you. not surprised though. i ended up watching tex-okst on espn360.com

So, tell me I'm wrong in this matter and please tell me your story b/c I am confused reading every post you have on this website. First of all, I've answered the cliche` calling me out for being an ISU student and a Hawkeye fan enough time. That argument is ********. Anyways....
Alright, I'll play. Illinois lost by 10 to Missouri. Yeah, you know, that great Missouri team from the Big 12. Illinois is currently 7th in the Big Ten with a 2-3 record (losses against Minnesota, Wisconsin, and a 14 point loss at Penn State).
Since the Illinois vs. Missouri game is the only Big Ten vs. Big 12 game not Iowa vs. ISU, then let's compare stats. Remember, Illinois had 532 yards against a Big 12 defense. The following stats for Illinois vs. a Big Ten opponent:
Penn State - 372 and 24 points
Michigan - 501 and 45 points
Minnesota - 550 and 20 points
Indiana - 563 and 55 points
Wisconsin - 306 and 17 points
Illinois had similar yards to the Mizzou game in games against Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana, and similar point outputs in 2 of those 3 (Minnesota game could have been more). So, if you want to compare the conferences based on head to head matchups and how each team has done since then, Missouri matches up defensively with Indiana, Minnesota, and Michigan.
Horrible argument, I know, but you're the one who said that the Big Ten would lose "badly" against a decent Big 12 team. Well, the 7th place Illini lost by 10 to 1st place Big 12 North Missouri.
Again, I've said countless times that the Big 12 is the stronger conference due to Texas, Texas Tech, Okie State, and Oklahoma. But the rest of the conference is mediocre, with the exception of Missouri, who is good (not great). Originally Posted by jaretac First of all, Missouri's 56-31 loss to Texas is nothing like Ohio St. 35-3 destruction. It is obvious that the Big 12 is better from top to bottom. So, the Big 12 has 2 more wins against ranked teams than the Big Ten does, and both teams have only 10 OOC losses. Sorry, but those stats don't really support any claims that the Big 12 is far superior.
So, let's look at the facts.
- Big 12 is 79% against OOC teams
- Big 10 is 75% against OOC Teams
- Big 12 is 3-3 vs. ranked teams
- Big 10 is 1-3 vs. ranked teams
- Big 12 has 5 teams in the USA Today Top 25
- Big 10 has 4 teams in the USA Today Top 25
- Big 12 is 1-1 vs. the Big 10 in OOC this year
Like I've said, the Big 12 is obviously stronger this year - I'm not arguing that. What I am arguing is the claims that the Big 10 is horrid, and that the Big 12 is far superior. Illinois showed that a Big 10 team can compete with one of the "top dogs" of the Big 12, and that at least 2 Big Ten defenses were better than the Missouri defense against the Illini (Illinois and Penn State).
