What other Big XII schools think about Iowa State/State of Iowa
Check this out, this was posted by some Aggie fans before the game on Saturday...It is pretty funny but I believe this kind of perception of our program and state has to change if we want to get any respect...You have to scroll down but it is titled "The Cyclone Hour". What do you guys think of this? Campus Clicks: Stay Away From the Big House - SI.com - SI On Campus -

First of all, you cant get high from sniffing elmers. Dumb. When people make things like this, they prove their ignorance. I think its rich when we get pinned as rednecks and marrying our cousins and such. Have people never been to the middle south? We are no more hick than any other agricultural state. If we are so bad at everything, why must people continue to taunt us? Its either that they are worried we could become something better or it makes them feel better about their mediocre program because they are just one step above us.

I lived in Austin Texas this summer and they don't hesitate to make fun of the State of Iowa...They say it is boring and there is nothing here but I can guarantee you that they have never been to Iowa, so how would they know. Maybe if they lived here for a few years, they may like it. That kind of ignorance really irritates me. If they have lived here for a while and still think that way then so be it, but most have no clue and that pisses me off

Have you ever been to Texas? You know how they say "everything's bigger in Texas"? I've come to the conclusion that everything sucks bigger in Texas too... Let the rest of the world look down on us. Then they won't overrun us and spoil a well kept secret.

Bottom line: Texas is hot, dry, dirty, and chaotic . .with its communities falling into disrepair. So take their comments for was they are . .ignorant.

I'd be careful with the labeling thing - after all, Iowa is hot in the summer, cold in the winter, row after row of corn - and it has its own illegal immigrant problem as exhibited by a packing plant earlier this year...

I thought the video they did on Kansas State was funnier than the ISU spoof.

If you want to meet people who absolutely hate Texas, go to Colorado.

So you lived in Texas for about 15 years like me right . . I will "label" as I desire BECAUSE it is my opinion. I could have said more about a lot of issues and environment but held back. So move on down the line. -

I don't get when people talk about iowa and incest, maybe I am missing something living in an area with 100,000 people. IDK what goes on in more rural areas, but I seem to run into more of the cousin stuff down south, actually closer to Texas and A&M than here. Since when is the north pegged as incest havens?

OK, everyone makes fun of areas they do not know.
So how do you change it?
I had the privilege, with my Aggie son of going to yell practice this weekend in WDM on Friday. Had a chance to catch up with Aggie I know who is married to a Clone and is die hard on the Aggie boards, but is the best poster in ISU favor you could ask for.
On Saturday I had the privilege of hosting a tailgate at which more than 25-30 Aggies joined with Clones for food and and great conversation. I had a chance to meet with give a Clone welcome to the parent of several Aggie players, including, Moss, McGee, and others.
Four Clone donor/families hosted it, and it made for a great day.
off soapbox, end of rant, sorry.
