Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
I think all 4 of these teams could beat anyone else in the nation right now if they all were given a chance in a national title game. When was the last time there were four legitimate national title contenders from the same conference this late in the season?
Scenario...
Texas wins out.
OU wins out.
Tech wins out (except loses to OU).
Who goes to the Big 12 title game?
Or...
Texas wins out.
Oklahoma State wins out
Tech wins out (except loses to OSU).
Same question...

You could argue that the Big 12 South is the best, toughest division in the history of college football.

I was looking forward to a possible Texas-Alabama national title game. Man, that one would be epic. Still could happen - just not too likely right now.

I just really hope Alabama loses one this year.

Re: Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
According to the Big 12 rulebook:
1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other.
2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division.
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish (fourth, fifth and sixth).
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents.
5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative.
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative.
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.
So I think if each team has one loss (each to one of the other two teams in the tie breaker) then it comes down to whichever team is ranked highest in the BCS. So it all depends.
So under your scenario, odds on favorite will be whoever wins out and beats Texas Tech on the way, which pretty much eliminates Texas, because OSU and OU will probably be ahead of Texas in the next BCS standings (OU for sure, OSU maybe).
So I would probably say here is the order of probability for the South championship representative.
1. Tech (in control of their own destiny now)
2. OU
3. OSU
4. Texas

I'd rather see someone other than OU in the conference/national title games.

Re: Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
It used to be that we would pair up our seasons as "easy seasons" and "hard seasons"; the 'Baylor-Oki St.-TA&M" seasons being the "easy" ones, and the "Oklahoma-Texas-TTech" seasons being the "hard" ones. I don't think we can do that any more. They're all hard, really.

I'd hate to see us play Texas, OU, and Tech this year, that would be a lot tougher than this year's rotation schedule. -

They probably won't make it though. Another Big 11 team will probably make it though in Penn State, but they too will probably get beat by whatever team makes it, whether it be a team from the Big 12 or the SEC.
If right now the top three undefeated teams (Bama, Penn St, Tech) win out from here, I would hope that Tech would be able to surpass Penn State (with a stronger schedule). By that time Tech will have wins over the current #4 and #9 teams in the nation and a win in the Big 12 championship game over #14 Missouri.

Alabama is gooooooooood. Best accept it...regardless if their coach is a snake or not.
But anyways...back to the Big 12...
The level of quarterback play on these 4 South teams is amazing.

Re: Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
Next week's OSU-TT game will be one to watch for sure! Alabama has one hell of a defense, but I'm not sure they could hang with the top three in the south.
