I'm not really big on Gary Patterson. I think he's overrated. Let's see him be as successful outside of Texas.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012.

Recruiting right there in the middle of the Metroplex would be a significant cough-cough advantage.

I think Mack wants to retire from coaching and finish his career as the AD at Texas. But I expect he will groom someone on his staff -- maybe Muschamp if he sticks around -- to replace him so they have a seamless transition.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

I didn't know that Applewhite took a step down when he went back to Texas. It seems pretty likely that he and Mack might have some type of understanding in place.

thats the way it seems ... also i think they brought him in to 1. help inplement a form of the spread he was running at rice and alabama and then 2. to make a late recruting push for darrell scott who wound up at CU and who we gotta meet first hand today ... overall its gona be interesting to see how the future unfolds at texas ...
