I would assume as long as he can walk the sidelines. Pray for good health. I like Mack and hope he has many years there yet.

I wonder is Muschamp is willing to play second fiddle for 3 or 4 more years? I didn't picture Mack hanging it up anytime soon, but maybe there is something more to this than we know!

Muschamp has been there less than a year.

It sounds like it could be one of two situations:

1 - This was part of the original agreement when Muschamp took the job, and it is only being announced publicly now.

or (more likely, imo)...

2 - Muschamp received a very good HC offer from Tennessee or Clemson, and with all the DC turnover Texas has had lately, they needed to convince Muschamp to stick around.

Mack is 57 right now, hard to think that he wouldn't be around 4-5 more years, but then again . . .

DeLoss Dodds isn't a spring chicken anymore (I think he's about 70). Mack Brown to UT AD soon, and Muschamp to UT FB head coach.

Muschamp has put together a great defense in his short tenure but in my completely outsider and probably underinformed opinion, this call seems a bit premature to me.

The dudes a bad*** for sure, but I would want to see at least a couple years of continued success before naming him the next coach of Texas.

any thoughts?

and just so all the Tejans out there know....Alaska is bigger than Texas.

This is a mich bigger slight to Major Applewhite than it is Chizik... They had to lock up Muschamp because he is the hot name, but Applewhite WILL be a better headcoach someday...
