I'm not so much a fan of the point differential. Whether it involves common opponents inside the division or out. If any of you were paying attention last night Musberger gave his take on what it should be and it was point differential versus five divisional opponents and Kansas. Oklahoma was already up and still beat OSU by 20.
That said, then you do get in to a situation where teams have to run up the score to have a chance. Instead, I like the SEC's system. Take the BCS rankings, disqualify the lowest team (Texas Tech) in this case. And then use the head to head to figure out who advances to the Big XII Championship. In this case, it would have been Texas.

I think the idea of using games of chance to decide a south rep. might have some legs. Aside from the excitement and ratings, business would be lining up to for sponsorships:
-The Golds Gym Arm Wrestleoff for the South
-The Wells Fargo Coin Flip for the Championship
- Crayola's Tic Tac Toe Throwdown

- Crayola's Tic Tac Toe Throwdown Change that last one to "Crayola's Tic Tac Throwdown" and you can add another sponsor. More $ from the coin flip! -

This basically can down to who coaches/media/computers:) thought was playing best at the end of the season. It would be hard to argue that any team in the country is playing better than the Sooners over the last 4-5 games. Add to the Sooner arguement that they blew out a TT team that beat the Longhorns and OU beat a solid OSU team by 20pts and the Longhorns struggled to beat by 4 pts.
UT's arguement comes down to they beat the Sooners and barring a miraculous comeback by TT, they would be undefeated season.
It will never happen, but I wish the Big 12 would copy what the Pac 10 does. When the NCAA allowed a 12 game schedule, the Pac 10 made the extra game a conference game. I'd rather see ISU play 9 Big 12 games & 3 non-conference games each year.

mike leach suggested that graduation rates/ GPA get looked at. i think this is a good idea, because it would be a real reward for all around hard work. of course, leach proposed this because his team is head and shoulders above the others.

A 20-0 game where the defense dominates the other team is a blowout. But the OU-OSU game was a shootout that was a little move evenly matched than the 20 point win would indicate.

Haha and Stoops probably plans to propose that they should just go alphabetical order on it too
No matter what somebody is going to have a beef with it when they're left out in the cold...it's hard to come up with something there that will please everybody when we have a situation like this one...

All it would do in the Big 12 is change the division rotation to a 6-year setup instead of a 4-year setup:
Years 1-2: A, B, C, D
Years 3-4: E, F, A, B
Years 5-6: C, D, E, F
Additionally, the home/road balance (4 of each) would be eliminated.
Iowa State and Missouri are the only Big 12 teams that have an annual BCS conference rivalry (Iowa and Illinois, respectively), so you can bet that those two schools would schedule two enormous patsies to fill out the non-league slate. Say hello to a schedule that has a I-AA team and a Sun Belt team.
Plus, in order to have 7 home games on a perennial basis, ISU would never be able to play a non-conference road game besides Iowa:
Rotation A: 5 league home games, 4 road; at Iowa; 2 non-conf home
Rotation B: 4 league home games, 5 road; Iowa; 2 non-conf home
That means no intersectional home-and-home against a Mississippi State or North Carolina State.
