Re: McCoy to return for senior season

I think it's noble, but a very silly move for him financially. His stock is very, very high right now. The only reason to stay is for a national title and that would certainly be nice.

But is the risk worth it? The guy could get injured next year and get nothing.

Re: McCoy to return for senior season

Maybe they'll have a decent running back next season?

This might prove to be a mistake...he loses Shipley, Cosby, and three seniors from the offensive line.
Edit: Excuse me. Four seniors on the OL.

This years QB class will probably be stronger than next years. Texas didn't even expect to be that good this year, they knew they were set up for a run next year.

Re: McCoy to return for senior season

Good for him. From everything I have heard his draft stock is not incredibly high...give him another year to work on his arm. He is obviously a hard worker, just look at all the muscle he put on for this year. I am just glad we don't have to deal with him next year.

McCoy I figured would stay, but if Bradford stays I will be VERY suprised.

I agree with 22. Look at Matt Leinart. From a financial standpoint, that guy only hurt himself by staying an extra year. Had he gone in the 2005 draft he would have been number 1 for sure.

Then again, I'm not sure that the taking the place of Alex Smith would have been that great for him either.

This years class is the weakest QB class in years. The best senior is Harrell and he is a 3rd round pick at best.

It all depends if Bradford, Stafford, or Freeman come out. But that shouldn't change McCoy's decision, b/c there really is no better time for him to leave

Good for him. I hate the fact that so many kids leave early to the NFL. Yet, I'd do the same thing if people flashed that kind of money in my face.

I agree that it is not a wise financial decision but don't see how it is noble to stay at Texas for another season. If you look at the amount of revenues players like McCoy generate and how little they are "paid" (scholarships) I don't see how it is noble to stay.

Evidently no one has ever calculated the entire value of a scholarship for you.

Sure, they're supposed to be better. But McCoy is one of the best QBs in CFB right now. What's to say he has an average season next year and some other guys wow the scouts? Or as I noted, he gets hurt?

So much risk for what I think is a marginal reward. Again, I love the devotion and team aspect in the kid - not many are loyal these days. However, we've seen where loyalty gets people and in a decent number of cases - it's not very far.

Somewhere, the kid is getting some seriously bad advice. Or he's just not listening.

One other thing I heard about guys coming out early this year is the NFLPA and the NFL have been in talks about a rookie cap after this year. Even if you think you could move up in the draft this cap may mean you make more this year at a lower pick than next year at a higher pick.

I'm not saying that scholarships are peanuts but they certainly aren't comparable to the revenues that colleges rake in from the services of student athletes.

Seems someone is forgetting about Tebow. He is a pretty damn good QB. Plus if stafford, bradford, come out, then it would be a great class. Plus harrell is very good as well

I could see Harrell lighting it up at workouts, he can really make all the throws.
