OSU Taking a Cue From ISU?
OSU fans will need season ticket for Georgia game - Big 12 - ESPN
Oklahoma State officials have announced that their Sept. 5 game against Georgia will be designated as a premium game.
Except for the 5,000 tickets made available to the visiting team, no single-game tickets will be available for the Bulldogs' first visit to Boone Pickens Stadium. It means the only other tickets for that game will be available through buying a complete season-ticket package.

I thought I read about several teams that do this around the country.

That is the way it seems, too bad because I still think the idea has merit. I found it very interesting that both OSU and ISU are fighting for the same thing in filling up their stadium and increasing season ticket sales, I'm sure the winning factor they have working will help them out a bit.

Re: OSU Taking a Cue From ISU?
They (OSU) did the same thing for the OU game in the past.

Georgia is Oklahoma State's Super Bowl.

Re: OSU Taking a Cue From ISU?
is it for sure that jamie was the first to do that here at isu? that would be pretty cool if he was indeed the one who came up with the idea, but i have a feeling that maybe someone else did it before isu

Re: OSU Taking a Cue From ISU?
Oklahoma State's main problem is that their SINGLE-GAME tickets for conference games last year were $85. Kind of dissuades a walk-up crowd. They were ranked in the top 10 at one point, and still had less than 40K in the stands because of it.

Re: OSU Taking a Cue From ISU?
When you get $60 quadrillion pumped into athletics why do you need to do this and have tickets so expensive? They should be selling cheap tickets in the corners of the stadium to keep it full.

When this came up here for the first time, some of the discussion on CF mentioned that Miami had done it in the past for FSU and Florida games. Despite their success, I guess Miami doesn't do the best job filling their stadium either.

Re: OSU Taking a Cue From ISU?
OSU seems to be purposefully alienating fans when it should be doing the complete opposite. They have a good football team with a chance to get to 10 wins for the first time since Barry Sanders left, yet they had a hard time selling out less than 50,000 seats. They have the makings of a good basketball team, with 3 McD All-Americans, yet their stadium which they want to be one of the top home-courts in the country, was half-full by the end of last night's game against Mizzou. (who looks like a top 10 team, as much as I hate to say it)
OU will always be the big dog in that state, but OSU can do themselves favors, especially with the T Boone budget already coming in, by lowering ticket prices and trying to make neutral or non-fans into OSU fans instead of OU fans. Instead, they are making the OSU fan base into a smaller segment of only die-hard fans.
It doesn't make sense. They should be striking while the iron is hot to develop a bigger fan base, and they seem to be doing the polar opposite.
