Other than performance what was the reason that Sean Sutton was let go at OSU? Or was it just performance? He didn't last long and I just can't remember the circumstances of his dismissal? Anyone care to refresh my memory of this? Thanks.
There were rumors that Eddie Sutton told OSU that he would quit (or would not sign his last contract extension-I can't remember) if they didn't promise to hire his son as his successor.
I know that the A.D. was not happy with the situation he was put into by Eddie from the beginning of the Sean Sutton era, so I think he was on thin ice to begin with...and combine underachieving for two years onto that, and you've got yourself another new coach.
Maybe it was because he didn't drive across 5 lanes of highway drunk and hit a car and tree like his Dad......whom by the way after that little incident got a contract extension....and his freaking name on the OSU court......oh....was a week after Larry was let go up here at ISU. What a world.
He really wasn't that bad of a coach. OK State is a tough job to have as your first IMO. He would've been better served to work up the food chain like his brother is doing at Oral Roberts right now. When you're in the Big 12, those mistakes you make early as a head coach are magnified compared to making them in a mid-major conference with 3k people in the stands and no TV coverage.

This would make sense. It had to be a difficult time period in the OSU athletic department. I would guess that T-Boone was not a big fan either or Sean might still have that job...
He had been raised with a spoon in his mouth and couldn't handle running a program. It was evident after they fired his dad that it was too much for him to handle. That's why they got rid of him.
