It's pretty stupid from a normal person's standpoint (one who maybe struggled to pay bills during college). It must make sense to her. Yeah, I agree with you here. I don't doubt that her intentions were good - just comes across badly to me I guess. It is nice to see that she's that confident though.

Re: OU's Paris puts scholarship on the line
absolutely nothing wrong with it.
SHE is risking it, SHE will be the one paying it back. NOT YOU.

Re: OU's Paris puts scholarship on the line
I hope they lose just so I can see if she actually does it.
I think this is about the most arrogant thing I've ever seen a college athlete do. Especially a women's basketball player. I could see a big time football or men's basketball player doing it when they know they'll be a millionaire in a few months, but this is just ridiculous.
I think it's a slap in the face to her teammates and other student athletes across the country. I respect her lofty goals and determination, but she's putting herself above everybody else.

Didnt Parker leave a year early for the wnba? If she did why would you leave early just to be lost in obscurity...

On the contrary, if I was her teammate, it would be flattering. It would be motivating to me that she had so much confidence in her teammates to say something like that.
OU has a lot of pressure on them anyway - last year's NCAA flameout, and being highly-ranked this year. I've always liked their system and free-flowing offense. Good luck to the Sooners.

With all due respect, I think it's a bunch of grandstanding. What are her teammates supposed to do? Give their scholarships back too?
If you play for a highly ranked team and have a legitimate shot at an NCAA championship then you shouldn't need motivation like this. It's just bulletin board material for whoever they're playing.

I think someone earlier in the thread said that the best players in the WNBA get paid about $100,000. At that rate, when it comes time to retire from basketball, they're not going to be financially set for the rest of their lives. By leaving school early, Parker gave herself one additional year where she could make a good wage playing basketball. At the same time, if she has to find a job after basketball, she doesn't have a degree to fall back on.

However, she did go to 4 years of college (used a redshirt) and graduated last May
