Nebraska and Missouri?
I think it's unfair that Nebraska has 1 major university and that's it. Meanwhile we have Iowa to compete with year in and year out which makes recruiting in-state guys including Barnes a lot more difficult.
Some Nebraska people brag at how they get everyone in state they want to. Well, who do they compete with....Nebraska School for Blind?
They do get good players there but if Iowa State and Iowa combined athletic programs, we would kick Nebraska's *** every year in basketball (almost already do), football (maybe), wrestling (definentely sp?), baseball (we would have a team and would beat Nebraska this year who sucks at baseball), and pretty much every sport besides volleyball (we are closing the gap though)..
So, I don't know if any Nebraska fans are here, but it would be embarassing if that actually happened.
Also, Missouri is in the same boat, so Nebraska isn't the only people..
If Nebraska or Missouri had another university, would should the name be?
Nebraska State Nomads
St. Joeseph's Pirates
Omaha Weed (sorry had to do it, no offense to some people that live there)
and finally,

Re: Nebraska and Missouri?
You're right, we should kick EIU out of the state! ...even though I highly doubt they are making our recruitment of Barnes any more difficult. If anything, it probably helps that they suck because if he wants to stay in state, there really is only one choice.
Cue SH, DJK, and Tarheel...

Re: Nebraska and Missouri?
Actually, Missouri has University of Missouri and Missouri State, just like Iowa.

Re: Nebraska and Missouri?
Hooked on Phonics University would have to have two universities, one in each state. and the drop out rate would be unimaginable.

Whats the point of this? Not much is fair in life, get over it.

True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Re: Nebraska and Missouri?
Ha Mizzou and Mizzou St isnt a good example because the whole D-1 thing but I think thats a good point. If Iowa and Iowa State combined or there was only one school we'd give a lot of people a run for their money. Hell combine UNI in there too (not much we can really say about that)

Re: Nebraska and Missouri?
You can add Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois to this list too. They each have only one public university in a major conference. Plus all of the states mentioned in this thread other than Nebraska are bigger than Iowa.
Also, jumping away from athletics for a moment, Iowa is the only state in this group with two public universities in the AAU. Something we should all be very proud of.

Re: Nebraska and Missouri?
With two major research univerisities, one regional university, more than 40 private four-year colleges and universities, and an elaborate community college system that blankets the state, Iowa has more colleges and universities per capita than any other state in the nation.
