Who belongs?
This was forwarded to me and I think it is interesting. Points were given to each Big 12 school (for the 3 most popular NCAA sports) based on bowls and tournament appearances, and conference and national titles since the founding of the Big 12. Here are the results (larger the number the better the school): School........FB...MBB...WBB...Total Baylor........0....5.....42....47 Missouri......13...25....13....51 Texas A&M.....20...13....20....53 Colorado......26...10....20....56 Oklahoma St...7....41....9.....57 Nebraska......44...10....16....70 Texas Tech....14...13....43....70 Kansas St.....26...16....32....74 Iowa St.......8....28....42....78 Kansas........9....101...19....129 Texas.........51...51....41....143 Oklahoma......74...53....63....190 -

Re: Who belongs?
We would have scored a ton of points in the 2000-2005 years, considering WBB is probably one of their top 3 sports: Year FB MBB WBB
2000 Bowl NCAA NCAA
2001 Bowl ---- NCAA
2002 Bowl NIT -----
2003 ---- NIT NIT
2004 Bowl NCAA NCAA
2005 Bowl ---- NIT
(Postseason appearances in these 6 years: 5 bowls, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's, 3 women's NCAA's and a WNIT. Looking at all 3 sports combined over that period, we had more postseason appearances than anyone else in the Big XII. Then we hired you-know-who.)
2006 ---- ---- NCAA
2007 ---- ---- NCAA
2008 ---- ---- NCAA
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

You should throw in wrestling and see how we look after that.

Monty. How can you blame 2006 on JP? Since you ignore me I will wait for someone else to answer. Posted via Mobile Device -

2008 ---- ---- NCAA you should drop your lame schtick and support the teams we have not the teams you seem to have an overly nostalgic view of. you're gonna have a lot of crow to eat if JP's programs ever turn the corner and exceed what you are romanticizing as the greatest period in Iowa State history. there is truly nothing like a fan who seems to be hoping his school's programs fail just to prove a point...and this is what you appear to be by the incessantly repetitive theme of your by now VERY predictable posts. Maybe you could spare us all having to read if you came up with something new and just put an "*" in which would mean your opinion and disdain for all things changed by Jamie Pollard remains the same.

It's out of place on a table such as this, as it pales in importance to the other two and is a big money loser for all schools.

The truth about Baylor is that the final spot in the conference came down to former SWC schools Houston, Rice and SMU, along with the Bears. The Ponies had done themselves a big nasty with the NCAA, and UT and A&M didn't want a Big XII school with a hometown recruiting base in Houston. So Baylor was elected.
