Boone Pickens Stadium
Record crowd of 53,102. It holds 60,000.
What in the heck is wrong with Okie State fans if they can't get 60k, or even eclipse the Jack Trice record, for today's game?

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
I am surprised that a $300 million renovation only gets you 60,000 seats. But yeah, that is unacceptable that you can't fill the place up for a great non-conference game.

It's what it says on both ESPN's Big 12 blog and on Wikipedia.

I assume pre-renovation it held fewer than the 53K+ they had today. However, with that being said I'm pretty surprised they couldn't sell it out with a marquee game like today.

I just can't believe that.

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
Have you ever been to Oklahoma? Face it boys in every state the majority of fans gravitate toward one team and any other team/teams left get short shrift and a paucity of fans!!!
Being an I-State fan that shouldnt be hard to understand!!!
BTW....K-State...Colorado State...Texas A & M...have the same problem drawing fans and attention.

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
Not A&M they are usually full and their athletic fan club is packed.
Granted they are down, but historically, they have held their own.

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
It comes down to Winning. Iowa has a huge advantage because they play in the PATHETIC Big 10.
If you win, people show up. Unless, you are ISU, then people (45,000) will show up if your 2-8.

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
great weather for a football town, 300 million renovation, top 10 team.....that is a head scratcher they can't sell out. Hell, we almost sell out and we have been terrible.
Remember that stressed spelled backwards is desserts!

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
They didn't sell single game tickets. To go to that game you had to have season tickets.

Re: Boone Pickens Stadium
In all fairness, you wouldn't be guaranteed to get 60K ISU fans for that game if our stadium held it.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
