Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
On a somewhat related note, I read Pat Forde's article today in which he made this statement that I thought was rather funny. League Losers
The Dash has unmasked some teams that have tended to put together decent records without doing much in conference play: Kansas (17). Overall record this year: 5-5. Big 12 record: 1-5. Big 12 record under Mark Mangino: 23-39 -- and that even includes a 7-1 league mark in 2007. Take that out of the equation and Mangino's record is largely built on the backs of Sun Belt and FCS opponents. And anytime Mangino is on your back, it hurts. -
Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
Was it Mangino that last year had a punt returner field a punt with no blockers in practice because he celebrated a touchdown? Same story as the sideline issue?

Reason: added practice

Kansas: FootballCoachScoop has BREAKING NEWS and FIRST TO REPORT that Athletic Director Lew Perkins met Monday night with the school's football players to
discuss concerns about football coach Mark Mangino brought to his attention by one of the current players and others with ties to the football program.
Sources close to the situation tell us that Mangino was not present at the meeting. Our source has told us that there are discussions of a possible buyout
is in the works for Head Coach Mark Mangino. Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -
Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
I had clip boards thrown at me on the sidelines a couple times for a bad play that i wasn't even on the field for, I guess I should have went and told mommy and daddy instead of laughing my butt off at the coaches outburst.

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
I assumed KU fans were rumbling about the team's performance this year.
I didn't realize Mangino had anger issues, and that might be the overriding issue for cutting him loose.
Forget my previous post.

I refuse to believe Mangino could get both of his T-Rex arms out far enough to grasp a kid's neck. Im not saying it was a choking incident, but I am implying something of a physical nature thats got this to grow legs and is now up and running.

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
Ha, if Rhoads freaked out like that each game when banks got his obligatory 15 yard Personal foul (seemingly each game), CPR would be plastered all over youtube.

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
Come on Kansas, Please, Please, Please get rid of Mangino!
He is a heckuva coach and a good recruiter (and we battle KU for a lot of FB recruits). He took them from god awful to the orange bowl and to the point where a down year for them is 5- 7 wins (which was much better than they did with Terry Allen).
Hopefully they get rid of him and our coaches are ready to poach a couple of their best recruits.

It's not a coincidence that the heat is really coming down on him right after he loses to Bill Snyder in his first year back...

Mangino: I may have lost some people around here, but it's not the players. | KUsports.com
"I haven't lost the team one bit. I may have lost some people around here, but it's not players," Mangino said. "Take that for what it's worth, you decipher it."
"If you want to know what was said, I'm not disclosing it. He's the one who's disclosing information about it, I'm not," Mangino said.
This certainly isn't going to help his situation.
Saw a rumor on a KU board that he's already been asked to step down...

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?
So Mangino's using the sun for a seat again? Are the players really that concerned, the little back up kicker must have gone missing. I think they overheard Mangino humming the Chili's baby back ribs song.

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'
