Saw that this morning. <Fat Joke>. Too bad Lew Perkins is heading this up, as he only deals in crooked.

If it's true, going from Big 12 coach of the year to being on the hot seat in two years is quite a quick turnaround.

Guys on WHB 810 mentioned this this morning. They kind of indicated that they think Perkins is looking for a reason to dunp Mangino...

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?

    Concerns about Mangino?????

Did he eat one of his players?

Crazy, the guy takes KU from crap to the Orange Bowl Champions and now they are "Concerned"? I hope they fire Mangino so ISU can count KU as a win, each and every year for the next decade.

Boy if they're already ready to toss him onto the skillet, wait until next season.

This. They are in for a fun season next year if they thought this year sucked.

Did you read the article? It says that the meeting was to discuss an incident involving Mangino and a player. It also sounds like there is an organized group of former player's patents ready to come forward with things as well. I think this goes beyond wins and losses for this year.

Believe it or not, I think his seat could be getting warm despite the success they have had the last couple years. They are one play away from being winless in the Big 12 this year, and I think it is pretty likely they don't make a bowl game. Even more shocking is the fact that all of their offensive talent is still here, next year was the year many were expecting them to take a big step back. If they take a big step back from a 5-7 or 6-6 season, that Orange Bowl will seem like a distant memory.

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?

If the hot seat is related to the on-field stuff, I say it's rather premature. Kansas has fallen down this year, but the guy got them to a place most never felt KU football would ever see.

If it's something else, so be it.

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?

If you take out his orange bowl year, his record isn't very good. Once Bill Young left it seemed the D lost it's edge and now the offense is struggling. What I have heard from my KU people is that they are investigating an incident with a player of players and that the entire team is revolting against him for benching Reising. Just speculation however.
People on KU boards are already talking about there new coach.

Re: Mangino on the Hot Seat?

    Wow, sounds messy.

To be just 2 years away from a BCS Orange Bowl victory to having some parents of players asking for a meeting to complain -- sucks to be you big boy.

Mangino was not a Perkins guy, but I think KU would be crazy to get rid of him.

Either way, all good for ISU to have coaching issues at CU and KU. Only a matter of time before Pelini does something stupid. MU will remain tough under Pinkel with their recruiting advantages. Who knows if Snyder can be successful at his age.

There is an opportunity here for ISU to be relevant in the Big 12 North for years.
